I loved Millie's and I've been going there since I was a kid, but I think I'm probably done now. It's gone down in quality quite a bit since back then, sadly. The last few times have not been great, and I think yesterday was the tipping point for me.
My wife and I ate there in the morning and even though the place was mostly empty when we arrived, we were seated directly next to the only other customers in the whole restaurant. The place was so quiet that both tables could hear everything the other said, no matter what volume. Very awkward. It then took 10+ minutes for our server to get to us, again despite there being basically no one in the restaurant.
The food took about 20 minutes to arrive, by which time the restaurant was filling up. The food was lukewarm, and the cottage cheese I ordered was questionable. The cheese on my omelette looked like it was melted and reheated a couple of times, and it was cold when it was served.
Our server only checked on our table once during the entire thing. I asked for Tabasco sauce and was brought syrup instead. I asked for Tabasco again and it never came. We never saw our server again, after that point. 10 minutes of waiting after we finished eating, I finally flagged down one of the other servers so we could get our check and leave.
Everybody at Millie's is nice, and the atmosphere is still good and the prices are great, but the service and quality of food have definitely gone down since the past. I am happy to pay for good service, and if providing that meant they had to raise their prices a little, I'd be OK with that.
I hope they figure it out - it would be sad to see this place go the way of so many other local...
Read moreMy recent dining experience at this restaurant was a major letdown from start to finish. To put it bluntly, there was little to no redeeming quality about this establishment.
First and foremost, the ambiance was far from inviting. The pothole-ridden parking lot set the tone for what was to come, and the atmosphere in the restaurant felt like a time warp to a turn-of-the-century funeral parlor. It was far from the welcoming atmosphere I had hoped for.
Then came the food. I can't find a single positive thing to say about it. The dishes were bland, dry, and poorly prepared, leaving me and my guest thoroughly unsatisfied with our meals. I had high hopes for a great locally run breakfast restaurant here in Tucson, but this place fell woefully short of that mark.
The service staff was equally disappointing. They appeared ill-equipped to handle even the simplest of questions and seemed utterly lost when it came to managing their check-in and checkout processes. It was clear that they were not in control of the situation, and this lack of competence only added to the overall frustration of my dining experience.
I can't help but feel that this restaurant doesn't even strive to perform at its best, likely because of its location within Trail Dust Town. With a captive audience of visitors to the shops and attractions, it seems they don't feel the need to make any real effort.
In summary, my quest for a great locally run breakfast restaurant in Tucson continues, and it certainly won't lead me back to this establishment. This was a dining experience I'd rather forget, and I would caution anyone seeking a satisfying meal and pleasant atmosphere to...
Read moreI was absolutely disappointed when I arrived for my first time at there new location in traildust town. The restaurant that was across the street was a German restaurant with the best and biggest pancakes in town. When we got there we were treated with a tiny menu with nothing on it that you could not get at your local Jerry Bob's, extremely high prices, and non of the meals came with your typical sides for a breakfast plate. I got the big breakfast plate, witch comes with an egg, 2 pancakes, and 3 pieces of sausage for 13 or so dollors. The pancakes were probably only 6" in diameter and tasted no better than frozen pancakes, the egg... Well it's an egg. I mean you can't really mess that up. And 3 small pieces of sausage that were nothing to write home about. For some reason they come on a separate plate that could fit probably 40 pieces, of witch should have been on the main plate that was 40% unused due to the lack of hash browns that normally come with regular breakfast meals. Let alone the big breakfast option. Once we received are plates, we ordered the hash browns that were missing bringing the meal totally to about 15 dollors. I don't normally make comments like this but they were actually the worst hash browns I have had in my life. Burnt hash browns are easier to eat then those were. All in all you will leave extremely disappointed, hungry, and broke. Please do not ruin your experiences from the old place by visiting there new location. And if your not local. Anywhere but ihop would be a better destination. Actually no ihop you would atleast leave full and only have to spend 10...
