My daughter recommended we try Slim Chickens rather than our normal favorite chicken location. I placed an order via the app. I went to pick the order up and only had to wait a few minutes for them to finish preparation. We got home and began eating. We were all very disappointed. It was apparent that none of the food was fresh. The chicken was barely warm, but worst of all it was chewy like it had been overcooked. It was the same thing with the fries, obvious they had been cooked earlier. The macaroni was the only thing that was descent, but that couldn't save the meal. I assumed that ordering around 4:30 which is likely the slowest part of the day, the food had been sitting. I only live about 5 minutes away, so I know it wasn’t due to time from restaurant to home. We were disappointed, but I was willing to give them another shot at a busier time.
It just so happened that they included a survey on the receipt. I filled out the survey and received an email from the manager saying he was disappointed that I had issues. He stated he would like some additional details and he would be providing me a gift card to try them again. I thought this was great customer service. I responded to the email with more details around my visit. He stated he would be mailing me the gift card. It has been roughly 7 weeks and I have not received a gift card. I responded again to his email letting him know that I hadn't received it, but he never replied. This on top of the bad first experience made it obvious that this location is not worth a second visit.
This location is a complete disappointment and management doesn't seem to care. I understand bad experiences happen in the food industry and it's not a big deal. However, when a manager states they'll provide a gift card and they don't follow through or respond when contacted, that to me is a big deal. I would advise anyone looking for chicken in the Tupelo area to avoid this location. There are plenty of other chicken choices...
Read moreWe were traveling through town and stopped here to pick up food to take on the road. We mapped out this stop ahead of time because of our fantastic experiences at Slim Chickens back home. Oh my, were we disappointed!
The first thing was the floor of the bathroom, which was soaking wet (hopefully from the toilet leaking and not another reason?), and it remained that way even after one employee used it and another was cleaning the floor in the hallway. Next, the service wasn’t outright rude but wasn’t friendly either. We were the only people in the restaurant, but our order took a long time—which makes no sense because once we got into the car and opened our containers, we realized the food must have been sitting around for quite awhile. Just looking at it, we knew it was sub-par quality; upon tasting it, we regretted spending our money here.
The chicken tenders were literally cold—not even lukewarm, much less freshly cooked; the fries were tepid and stale-tasting; and the bread was a joke compared to the thick, toasted, quality bread Slim Chicken usually offers. It was thin, limp and totally unappetizing.
My son had been driving all day and was starving but decided his meal was inedible and not worth it. My daughter had already been feeling a little carsick, and this didn’t help. I ate most of my food just for sustenance but didn’t enjoy a single bite of it like I normally would at Slim Chickens. It’s no wonder we were the only ones in the place during the dinner hour. Something needs to change here, or it will go out of business fast. Worst fast food meal I’ve ever had, and lacking service...
Read moreOne Hungry Meal of fried tenders satisfied 3 of us on a Sunday afternoon. My cohorts were much more impressed than I, and they vowed to make it a go-to meal (but likely driving through next time).
The atmosphere was very lively and people were moving in and out of the restaurant at a fast pace. We liked that staff was readily available and that they were trying hard to keep things clean as the tables turned over.
What we did not prefer was the volume of the music (although the music was great). Everyone was shouting to be heard so it made conversation uncomfortable. We also did not like that everyone going to the restroom had to walk through the middle of the ordering line if they were coming from the dining area. At one point there was a line to the bathroom that went through the middle of the ordering line. Mix that with the people walking into the same area coming in the front door, and it's pretty chaotic right there.
We tried the cajun ranch (yum) and honey mustard (meh), and plan to try the house sauce and buffalo sauce next time we order. Im looking forward to trying the grilled tenders to see if they are more my speed. I hear the layered dessert is very good.
Side note: two sauces was not enough for 8 tenders in the...
