Vanelli's Bistro — Restaurant in Tupelo

The food waa given to us through the take out n we told them were taking it home to tn 2 hr drive. What a waste of 55.00-60.00 we came esp for calamari was told immed dont have it now. So ordered 2 lg greek salads. 1 all but pepperachinis (sp) and the other no onions no pepperachinis. both w greek dressing and an extra side of greek dressing for both. Recvd dressing all over the salad which by the time we went home it was a soggy limp oily (it separated) unedible mess. I had never had a take out salad where the dressing was put on the salad always on side. We asked if any Italian bread to go w the salad NO an Italian rest no Italian bread at a restaurant that specializes in italian food??? WHAT! but we have focaccia bread OH OK that's gr8 yes but I can add it on the bill. I had no idea it would cost 1.00 a PC ridiculous. Then ordered a appiteaser thinking since u didn't carry baked ravioli which again is crazy easier than Fettuccine alfredo to make. So I had ur only ravioli was the breaded n fried one. That was a huge bunch of rubber pasta n I don't know what the meat inside was but it was awful. My mom had the tetrazini needless to say it was dry the pasta was hard terrible either way. We were so happy going to Vanellis Bistro sadly n financially disappointed and yes upset. Waited to eat all day Italian our favorite cuisine. We've gone to tellinis and it wasn't so gr8 but at least edible. Sorry 1 star only less if it could of showed up on here. Was this a horrific day for ur business? Maybe... I'd b happy if I knew someone would see this and it could b fixed I don't know if we could try something else...

My little lunch partner and I popped in for a quick bite before getting haircuts today in downtown Tupelo. She had never tried Vanelli's and I hadn't been since it was on N Gloster. The Bistro is much smaller and the art and tvs are a little wacky, but we loved it. Definitely a more downtown vibe than what I expected. The one thing that was still on point...the pizza. We had pita pizzas that were a perfect individual size for 7.50 and 8.50. She opted for a cheese pizza and I had the Grecian, both with extra sauce. We were beyond pleased and neither of us could finish our whole serving. The young man working the register was extremely friendly and polite, and it started off our visit on a pleasant note. You seat yourself, order at the register and make your own drink. The tables were full and continued to turn over throughout our stay even though it was after 2:00. It will be put on our lunch...

Greek food is the best cuisine on Earth and Vanellis is an authentic Greek family owned and 30 plus years local staple and not just an eatery but dining on deliciousness and feeling the love and gratefulness from and for the family who gave our city the best restaurant in not just Tupelo but all Lee Counties and all of Northeast MS. Much love to the Kapenekas`. Miss you so much Papa and much love and appreciation to you Voz for being you and for best food I have or will ever have. And P. S. All other restaurants who have Greek Salad on their menu and comes with "Greek dressing" which is awful and nothing close to how an authentic Greek dressing really is and needs to either be taken off heir menu or learn from you how an authentic Greek Salad is really made to order along with the authentic dressing made and tossed in with each salad.
