I enjoyed lunch today at Mavis Winkle's Irish Pub in Twinsburg, Ohio. The Pub is located at the south end of a mini-mall located west of Darby Road. There is plenty of free off-street parking available in the mini-mall parking lot. This is my first visit to this Pub. The Pub has a dining room and a bar with seating at the bar. There is a smaller dining area adjacent to the bar. There is a seperate dining area with a large screen and a projection TV. There is an outdoor dining space for warmer weather. I started with a bowl of Guinness Onion Soup. The soup has a great depth of flavor. The broth tastes great. There are plenty of onion pieces in the broth. There are no hard croutons, there is a soft bread that soak up the broth - yummy. A cheese tops the soup and melts well. The cheese is flavorful. The cheese does not reach to the edges of the bowl. A good way to start lunch. I had an unsweetened ice tea to drink. Next, my entree is corn beef and cabbage with baby carrots and garlic mashed potatoes and a small stainless steel container of spicy brown mustard. The presentation of the entree is nice and appetizing. There is a scoop of garlic mashed potatoes on the plate. Adjacent to the mashed potatoes is a bed of bite size steamed cabbage topped with baby carrots. Next to the mashed potatoes and steamed cabbage is a pile of tender thinly sliced corn beef along with a small stainless steel container of spicy brown mustard. Each item tastes great and compliments each of the other items on the plate. I have to say the mashed potatoes are not creamy and I prefer a wedge of steamed cabbage rather than the bite size pieces of steamed cabbage. Having made that comment, the entree tastes great. I prefer the 'traditional' presentation of corn beef & cabbage with the corn beef slices layered over the wedge of steamed cabbage with the carrots and potatoes next to them. The staff are friendly and attentive. They check back frequently to ensure you are enjoying your meal. They top off your beverage without you having to ask them. The Pub has Irish folk songs playing during lunch. They have live bands in-house several times a month. The Pub and Men's washroom are clean. The Men's washroom has one commode and one urinal. Is that enough for St. Patrick's Day and on big game days? With the Pub's selection of Irish beers, I wonder if they have porta-toilets lined up outside to handle the 'over-flow' crowd. I truly enjoyed my lunch today.
I returned to Mavis Winkles Irish Pub for lunch in early May, 2022. Wendy is my waitress today. What a great personality. Very friendly and good humored. Always with a sincere smile and a great laugh. I started with the Guiness onion soup. So good! My entree is the Twin Burger Mushroom Swiss Cheese burger. Two hand crushed meat patties with lettuce, tomato and raw onion. The cook is generous with both the mushrooms and the Swiss cheese. You get several sautéed mushrooms with every bite. The brioche bun compliments this burger. Very tasty. What a great tasting burger! The burger comes with tater tots. I opted to have coleslaw, for an extra cost, rather than the tater tots. I truly enjoyed this lunch. The food and service...
Read moreWent to Mavis Winkles in Twinsburg on 12/7/2013 for lunch. In a short time, they broke 2 critical health code violations (I included both violations below) with the food they tried to serve me. The clever waiter served my corned beef sandwich to the patron behind me. After the patron picked it up and noticed it wasn't his, he called the waiter back over to tell him he didn't order this, the waiter took it back to the kitchen, waited 20 mins and re-served me the same sandwich. When I confronted the waiter, he admitted to the critical error and thought it would be ok, he even added, "but I did give you fresh mashed potatoes". It wasn't until after I complained he would offer to replace my sandwich with a fresh one.
I went directly to the GM. After getting an insincere apology, he offered to comp my meal. But what was there to comp? All I had was 2 beers. If a waiter had the nerve to serve me old food, what else could he do to my food after I complained? I didn't want to take that chance nor could I trust him or the GM.
The GM then tried to blame the waiter for inexperience. I told him, I had the same waiter 3 months ago and had lousy service then. I didn't know it takes waiters 3 months to learn how to serve the food properly. Then the GM created another excuse, he said "I'm having a hard time to get quality applicants. I only started 3 weeks ago and I have to work with I can get." What kind of excuse is that?
I've been a long time customer to both locations and I don't know if I can ever return or even suggest Mavis as a goto place. I've had many great experiences here, but this one incident changed everything.
The owners Bill & MaryJo Demopoulis were contacted durning this and have my contact info, still haven't received a call or email. I left MaryJo a few voice mails and never received a call back or even an apology.

Read moreI was very disappointed with my service today. I understand it’s St. Patrick’s Day, so I placed my order at 9am to pick up at 3pm. I arrived at 2:50pm. When I walked in the establishment I gave my name for pick up. The older woman was nice and went to the back to get my order. After about 10 minutes she came back and stated my order will be ready in 5-10 min. Meanwhile I’m watching at least 4 people come in give their names and their food is coming right out. After a little while longer I watched 4 more people get their food so I asked a nice lady who had just come in to pick up her order, what time did she place her order? She responded 12 noon and within seconds her food was being brought to her. The young girl who brought the food over heard the nice lady telling me she placed her order at 12 noon and me saying wow I placed mine at 9am, made this disrespectful, rude, immature girl say to me “ we’re working diligently to get your food, we don’t need your negativity” and I was appalled as if I was making a scene when in reality she was making a scene. Then she goes on to ACCUSING me of recording her from my phone. Thank god for an older gentlemen (who called in an order and received it within minutes) had to tell her she’s not recording you because he could clearly see I was on FaceTime. As a matter of fact I came in the establishment on my phone. She tried to change the entire narrative. When the truth of the matter is I placed an order at 9am to pick up at 3pm. My order wasn’t ready because they dropped my ticket in the kitchen and missed it. So I waited almost an hour. I understand things happen but I can’t understand rudeness especially when it’s not the customer fault and also to be accused of something so silly is ridiculous and unprofessional. This was my first time visiting this location as I received great reviews from my medical team of the food. I will not be returning. I will say everyone else in the establishment was pleasant other than...
