Let me start by saying when buying a puppy the staff is very friendly and active in trying to help you find a new fit for your family. We recently purchased my daughter her first puppy from petland. Shortly after ( a few weeks)we had taken our dog to go outside to potty )Our yard is fenced in) while my husband was outside watching our neighbors dog had gotten into out yard and by the time my husband got to puppy (maybe less than 15 seconds) the neighbors dog had killed our puppy. It was honestly a horrific incident that has really shaken our family and deviated our daughter. We paid for our puppy in full and had bought all the supplies from petland. We took him to their recommended vet, who I would 100% recommend as those ladies truly cared for our family's furry friend and even sent us a card when they heard about our pup. While cleaning out our closet we found the "pet for a life time" paperwork. I asked my husband to call and see if we would qualify since we had done every step as instructed by them. The employee mockingly joked that it was neglect on our part so that wouldn't apply but he wasn't a manager and would have to get back to us.
We did every step we could to protect our dogs. We have a fence, we take them to the vet, they sleep inside, we WATCH THEM while they are outside. We can't control our neighbors dogs. That being said all the guy had to say was uh, I don't know I'd have to get my manager or even just say no that's no covered and we would be fine. We understand that petland is not responsible for the puppy once if leaves but we wanted to try to see for our daughter and instead we were mocked and told we had neglected our dog so it's all our fault. We are already hurting immensely for the loss of our fur baby. It was uncalled for him to provoke the issue in that manner. I am highly disappointed in the lack of empathy and professionalism that they displayed after spending just under 3k on one of there pups. WE DO...
Read moreOne of the most awful and weirdest experiences of my life. I've done my research on the pomeranian breed and my mother was a pomeranian breeder so we know the true pricing! These people are scammers. Poms are $500-800 and the royalty breeds are $1200-3500. This company was trying to tell us a certain pomeranian was $10,000. Who in their right minds would agree to that? Oh but don't worry, they have payments plans lmao, I've made payment plans on a couch, TV, electronic, ect but a payment plan for a living breathing animal?! Are you kidding me? Like they are THINGS? That shows they only care about getting your signature across that payment line and not really caring about who that puppy goes home to and caring if they will be taken care of. And what they call "proof of breed" is a tablet with tiny letters that the employee reads out to you, you don't read it. Also, I felt like this company had undercover workers to manipulate customers into buying at least something. There was one lady who was making her rounds to everyone in there and being a little too sociable, it was extremely odd, but only her. We were not looking to buy, and we made that clear to TWO of the workers, but we did want to play with a pomeranian cause he was the only one there so we go into a play room and all the employee told us as we enter is and I quote "scan the QR code, it's a consent form, you break it, you buy it" UM WHAT? again with this company referring to puppies with names as "its" or "things". And lastly, the dog we did play with smelt terrible like he was laying in his pee all day, and if you're gonna sell him for triple the price, that dog better be smelling like damn roses and looking almost perfect in my opinion. This whole company is a huge joke. Buy from shelters, marketplace, or Petco. Do NOT be manipulated by them, they are literally trained to do that to you. If I could give it 0 stars, and still put my experience out there, I...
Read moreOverall a very horrible experience with pushy employees and management that clearly needs work in the customer service department.
Just a reminder: Yall are located in a college town which means that the majority of your customer demographic is college students. That said, many of these customers may be financially unstable for your overpriced puppies and can't afford the costs to raise them either. Furthermore, many students are away from their pets at home and may just go these types of stores to find comfort. I know because I am a college student myself and so is my sister, who is the person who was pushed to purchase a puppy on May 29th. Or many customers may just come in too look for fun like any other store. The fact that an employee was pressuring my sister into purchasing a dog that she couldn't afford is uncalled for. Not only is it cruel to my sister, but it was also cruel to the puppy. Once a puppy is purchased there is not refunds or returns, which is probably why so many dogs end up at the shelter. Maybe this is a factor that is causing so many shelters to be crowded and overflowing. With that being said, Petland clearly doesn't care about the well-being of the animals they are selling. Once the puppy is purchased, they have an attitude of "not my problem" when you call them. Speaking of calling, good luck trying to get any issues solved. They will send you in circles and tell you to just email. The manager also refuses to speak to you over the phone even when the store is not at its peak hours. To conclude, our situation was horrible with this store and I am hoping it doesn't happen to anyone else.
To MANAGEMENT, be there for your customers instead of sweeping them under the rug and blaming everything on them. And to ALEXIA, next time you come into contact with a customer, DO NOT pressure them into buying anything and DO NOT continue to pester them when they had no intention of purchasing a puppy. NO...
