Grand opening day. Server Christine was more than amazing; people were wonderful. Being seated was very weird. We checked in at the desk and were told to take a glass of wine and wait in the middle of a room where no one talked to us for the most prolonged amount of time. I finally ask someone what we were supposed to do to be seated and they asked if we checked in. I told them we did and she still had no advice for us. So I just asked everybody I could who was near us until I found out if we were actually going to be seated or addressed in any way. This was odd because there were so many employees wandering around looking at everything and trying to make sure everything was running smoothly that I was incredulous as to how we were overlooked even though we were standing in the middle of the entire room looking lost. Food was adequate, expensive, and the portions were small. You could clearly tell that the person who was acting as what I guess I would call the busboy had no clue what they were doing He took our appetizer plates before we even had a chance to order anything. I tried to tell the server when our appetizers were brought that we had no plates for them but she couldn't hear me over the ridiculous music and her response to me was that the amuse-bouche, which was four crackers and a tiny dish of ricotta, was complimentary. She left and I thought she was leaving to go get plates but she didn't and then I tried to tell her again that we had no appetizer plates. There were clearly three people sitting at the table but the busboy decided he was going to take the utensils from my daughter which were not used. I think someone had told him to come over and take the 4th set of utensils because there were only three at the table but then he didn't use his common sense. Our table was horrible. The music was so loud I couldn't even hear the server so I asked politely if the music could be turned down and someone said yes and then they did and I realized we were sitting on the edge of two different musics playing at the same time. I thought I was literally going to go crazy because I was hearing Stevie Nicks Dreams and what sounded like The Eye of the Tiger at the same time. And it continued throughout our hour long meal. We did make a game of it where are we trying to guess which two songs were playing at the same time and trying to keep our sanity. The booths were so low that I felt like a child. Someone did come over and bring us a coupon for 20% off to use because the music was so loud but then they wouldn't let us use it. They said it was for our next visit which makes no sense to me because if a customer is uncomfortable or inconvenienced at the current visit then the coupon should have been applied at the current visit. Lastly I asked our server if we could have some tomato based dipping sauce instead of the aioli for the calamari appetizer. She came back and said yes but for an upcharge. At this point I was so done I was just going to smile and get through this meal. So I did not complain when the server literally brought me one tablespoon of some kind of tomato sauce. As soon as I saw that it literally looked like it may have even been less than one tablespoon, I asked if the server could bring another one. I was absolutely shocked when the, already overpriced at $24, calamari-tiny-portion was now $29 because they charged me $5 for less than two tablespoons of sauce. I will not be coming back I don't think. I may visit your market occasionally but the restaurant atmosphere is not worth purchasing anything except maybe...
Read moreI'm honestly shocked at how high the reviews are on this place and am convinced these are paid for reviews. Perhaps the restaurant is a completely different experience, but we checked out the market.
The market was very clean with high quality, unique food items. There were fresh foods, veggies, as well as packaged foods and ingredients you will not find in a regular grocery store. Unfortunately I don't have anything positive to say beyond that.
We went at around 1030a and decided to try a spinach pastry, apple tart, and espresso. Very small portions however everything tasted decent. Nothing mind blowing for nearly $30, however. There were many other beautiful pastries, deserts, and ice cream. Very expensive, however for a culinary experience I guess to each their own.
There was a section in the market that had pizza. Initially there was no food, but at around 1040a they started bringing out several different pizzas and everything looked truly delicious. We asked the gal behind the register if we could order a slice. She said "give me a minute". Mind you she was flipping thru menu cards and not dealing with the food in any way. Fine, but she never bothered to follow up and we were sitting near the register. Another few minutes go by and my husband asked a different employee about ordering. He was told they don't open until 11. Mind you, there are no signs stating this. If the food is available, why on earth would you risk losing customers simply due to a few mins early?! Suffice to say we left after that, so unfortunately I can't comment on the pizza.
This place is great for the gram and not much else. The social media hype brought me in, but in my experience I don't see any reason to go back.
TLDR: The market is essentially an exorbitantly priced mini food court with very mid food, tiny portions, and even worse customer service. Don't fall for the...
Read moreNot sure if this was an off night but we dined there on Friday 10/24 and the food wasn’t what I expected. When we arrived we were told by the hostess that it would be a 45 minute wait which seemed odd because there were so many open tables. I gave my phone number and name and was told I would receive a text when my table was ready. After we waited 45 minutes I went back to the hostess and for an update. I was told by the hostess that it showed that I was seated which obviously wasn’t the case, someone else took our table. We waited a few minutes and were seated at another table. I saw so many open tables in the restaurant and wondered why there was a wait, it appeared they had sufficient staffing as they were standing around talking. Once seated a server came to our table asking if we wanted sparkling water or regular water and I said regular water, the staff member came back to the table pouring sparkling water into our glasses. I said to him I asked for regular water not sparkling water and he said yes that’s right and left and returned with a bottle of regular water. He didn’t replace our glasses that had the sparkling water in them nor asked if we would want a new glass. Our server arrived and took our orders. We ordered the Tonnarelli cacio e pepe and the pasta was barely cooked and the sauce was very scarce. It wasn’t what I expected nor enjoyed. My grandson ordered the kids pasta but the server never asked if he wanted a drink which was included in the price of the meal. It seemed like the restaurant wasn’t being managed properly. Was it an off night or do they have a...
