I came from out of town and I plugged in barbecue. And I decided on this place and I'm so glad I did when I arrive the parking lot was so full of cars which is such a good sign that you find a parking spot. When I went in it was going to be a little bit of a wait is because they were kind of short-handed which it's okay because this is the family ran business. Whats a the barbecue place with pizza and they serve beer and I came here for the barbecue of course. The menu there's isnt a lot on the menu but that's okay you don't need a lot on a menu to be a very good place. I ordered a half rack of ribs because I thought maybe I could eat them all and she had suggested why don't you order three and I'm like no I want the half rack and I'll order some sides with it. I ordered the baked beans and the cornbread. My food came rather quickly which is good and then I overheard them say they ran out of barbecue sauce they make it in home there which I can see why because it is so good. Let me talk to you about the ribs the ribs are one-of-a-kind fall-off-the-bone very very meaty good ribs I haven't had this good at barbecuing so long. If it's just you I would suggest just the three ribs because this is a lot of food. The baked beans were interesting I'm not a big bean fan but I found him very good in the a different kinds of beans in them that I never thought of having in my baked beans. The cornbread was so good and so moist you don't need nothing you don't eat at butter honey nothing you can eat that by itself. If I could get this 20 🌟 would because it actually was that good. Even though they were shorthanded they were very professional and they did their job very very well and I can't say enough about those gals that work their butt off. The owner was there he was helping fix problems as they happened but it's just a good family atmosphere is very clean. Is another thing I noticed I can't say enough about this place and we was just really absolutely the best and thank you. One more thing I don't think the cost was that much for over cost. For what I got I think it was...
Read moreOn an errand in the area, I see the holy letters BBQ, like a lighthouse sighted during a raging storm, although it is only raining a little. I do a fast U turn and hustle myself into the cute yellow bungalow to see what I can see and taste what I can taste. I will admit I ate recently, but BBQ is BBQ and such treasure should never be passed.
Now BBQ is expensive, there's no denying this and the fact that $20 plus tip doesn't really buy you much more meat than a quick snack will not be held against them. Unless cash is falling out of your pockets, BBQ is always going to be a bit of an extravagance. Still, the three pieces of BBQ Ribs did look a little lonely sitting there on the plate. That why they give you two sides and this is where the problem arises. The baked beans are good, savory and sweet. My wife might hate me later, but I could eat a lot of these.
But the Mac and Cheese was literally horrible. Bland, tasteless, blah... My tastebuds were as insulted as if they were a prom date taken to a McDonald's. If you're going to give filler to assuage the craving of our stomaches you need to put some thought into it. At the price, I want my cup of Mac and Cheese to sing to me like a nightingale. I want it to whisper I love you as I lay my head on my pillow. I've had better out of packages.
The Ribs were great, 2-3 bites each and I liked the sauce. The place itself is cute as a bug's nose, I love these places that spring up in old houses like a sweet mix of old memories and hopeful dreams. I took a quick look at the lunch menu and I might give it a try for more mundane fare. A good BLT is about as close to God as I am ever likely to reach. As a BBQ joint, I'm taking the Mac and Cheese as a slap across the face. Either more meat, or better sides. It shows a lack of attention that does not speak of a...
Read moreIt was opening night at their new locatio. We arrived about 5:45 waited and we were seated soon after. We ordered, we were told they were out of ribs and one other item. Then the very long wait for our dinner. We should have ordered pizza. Our Texas toast, was two slices of the plain bread you purchase to make Texas toast. One of our dinners, the pieces of meat were partially refrigerator cold. My shredded pork was barely warm. Coleslaw was good as were the beans if barely warm. The only truly hot item served were the collard greens. We were given a gift certificate for one meal . And a complimentary piece of cobbler. Earlier when we asked how long dinner would be as we were hungry they complimented us salads from the salad bar. A huge thank you! It truly was helpful. When you are told when you order the items unavailable, that really shouldn't change by the time your dinner arrives. Or give a heads-up early on it so that if you want to change to a pizza you could. I don't know if they had had a soft opening to work out kinks. Perhaps this was it. Later we were advised by our wait person who was great, that if we wanted ribs and availability of all the items on the menu we should come early and I asked what is early and she suggested no later than 3. We will try again in the future and see how pizza is. We do wish them...
