UPDATE: 1/1/25 (I stopped in there to see if the new owners have changed their ways. I want to see if the food got better and if the service got better. I tried a sample of the general sou chicken. I asked is it going to be super spicy or not. I told them I don't like spicy and that it shouldn't be super spicy. The guy said No it's not spicy. That chicken was so spicy my lips were on fire the second that it touched em. I was generally mad. The guy just smiled at me and said oh two spicy. I said yes that's way too spicy. Can you make me some that is less spicy please. The guy immediately said NO! Pretty sure this is the last time I'll ever come here. This is a very sad story. I really wanted this place to succeed.) I've been going here since 2001. (Angela) Her and her husband use to be the owners. Her husband was the cook. This place used to be the best restaurant in Vancouver. Now we hardly ever even eat there. Under the new ownership they have changed the recipes. Everything is either super spicy or super bland. This used to be my favorite restaurant and we used to go there every single weekend. If we were to sit down and eat Angela used to come out and sit down with this and hang out for a little bit and talk to us. We've known the old owners for many years. Now that it's under a new ownership this place is completely different. They have changed to the recipes and if you ask for anything special they will complain about it to you before they even consider making you a different dish. For example the General tso's chicken Used to be not too spicy and had a nice candy coating over it. Now the chicken is bone dry, so spicy you can't even eat it and it feels like it came right out of the freezer and just got dipped in sauce. Every time we go in there the food looks as if it's been sitting under the heat lamp forever. When the old owners were there it was never like this. Food was always fresh and absolutely delicious. If you ask them to make you something they didn't even hesitate to make you a fresh dish. The place is completely changed and they have lost a ton of business and It is definitely noticed. It's unfortunate. This used to be mine and my wife's favorite place to go on the weekends. The food has changed and the atmosphere has changed. Not in a...
Read moreMy husband got us dinner here last night as I said I was craving shrimp fried rice. They told him they did not have that, so he got me “fried rice, honey walnut shrimp, and plain shrimp” along with his meal, some crab puffs, and potstickers. The fried rice was NOT fried rice. There was literally no egg, peas, carrots, or flavor. It was a very dark brown color and seemed like they literally just put soy sauce on it and “fried” it up. The honey walnut shrimp was gooey and gross. The shrimp in general was 80% fry batter. And the “crab puffs” were literally JUST the fried shell with the tiniest smear of cream cheese - so little filling that a cockroach would be upset. The potstickers were also gross and seemed like they were probably frozen. Not to mention my stomach was in knots for hours after I ate less than half of my meal. A WASTE of money!! Would never go here again. No idea how they...
Read moreThis is a bit of a rip. Chow Mein: Greasy noodles only. No meat, no bean sprouts, no onions. Nothing. Not even the option for chicken chow mein or pork chow mein. Just the flavorless noodles. Fried Rice: Only rice. Where are the peas, carrots, green onions, and the rest of what normally goes into fried rice? Only rice. Spring rolls: What is inside? Some bits of cabbage and some grated carrots -- but the rest is dough. There is no value in this place. They are putting out the bare minimum and calling it Chinese food. Even the other dishes like orange chicken and have nothing in them except the chicken. No veggies at all. It is regrettable when people go into business and then deliver such disappointing fare for their community. Lots of reviewers comment positively about portion sizes. So what. Just a larger portion of utterly boring terrible food. Terrible waste of...
