What a struggle !!! I feel bad for the employees!
Sadly these people just don’t know how to run a business, especially a food service business. Not sure who owns or manages this place but they are way over their heads. I actually feel sorry for the employees every time I’ve gone there and today will be the last time. The one thing they did well was create a semi affordable lunch special. However it’s a mission to get one in a timely manner or for more than one person ordering at the counter and waiting. The worst part is if you call they will answer the phone and tell you they can’t take an order right there over the phone? Then why answer? They instruct you to “order online”. So you do that and the eta is about 30-40 min out. Seems a bit long for plate lunch Hawaiian food but ok. Then you arrive and they are already backed up with only 5-8 customers by 1130… today I arrived and they seemed surprised to know I put an order in. Three lunch specials. Not a big deal. I’m told it will be a min. As I sit there and watch 5-8 different people walk in and order at the counter 20 min goes by and not even a look my way. Mean while 3-4 of the counter order customers get their food. I get up and ask about the order again and why several people who ordered got their food so fast and before my order that is going on 1 hour since I was forced to place in online? I was told that they are short staffed and someone’s family member died and that their online order system got messed up… then as I have a look of disgust she stormed off to the register and said something I couldn’t hear. I walked over and she handed me a receipt and told me she refunded my order and she was sorry. I didn’t even know if that meant it was being comped and to stay and wait or to just leave. Honestly after the attitude I just walked away. maybe it was all true but that’s not how you handle things in a service environment. I understand things happen and staffing issues occur but you don’t take it out on your customers. I will make sure that everyone at my company and everyone I know will never do business here again because this isn’t the first time something like this happened it’s repetitive, and if you look at the other reviews, most of them say the same thing I apologize because I’m not about writing negative reviews, but this place needs a wake up call or...
Read moreI don't leave reviews often, with that said I'm going to do this thoroughly. I found this place googling places and the food looked good. I now realize our experience was no exception to what many are saying. For starters, the portions are pretty big, I'll give them that. (You can choose between two different sizes.)
I ordered Chicken Katsu and Kalua Pig combo with veggies. The veggies included mostly onions and carrots with little broccoli, some bell peppers that were soft and overcooked. The amount excessively outweighed both my chicken portions combined. (Pic of veggies without meat below) The veggies and pork were both too salty for me to finish but just a few bites. My boyfriend's grilled chicken had a nice flavor but the macaroni was dry, and had NO salt...go figure.
The staff were friendly towards us but we sat at a table waiting for our to go order for an HOUR. We were given no explanation for what happened or were even spoken to much at all the whole time unless we were asking questions. It just seemed like they didn't have much concern or interest nor urgency whatsoever despite our asking about it three separate times. Six other orders were given out that came in after us. It became evident our order had never made it's way back to the cook until the last 15 minutes of our visit OR the cook overlooked it completely.
Outside, on our way back to the car, another couple that had traveled from Portland to try the food, mentioned to us how they couldn't believe how long we were in there for. They had ordered their food, ate and still had time for a smoke break before we had even stepped foot out the door. It goes to show that people pay attention and it can have a ripple effect.
I really don't like leaving negative reviews and I understand life happens however, many other reviews have expressed a shared experience so the waiting time and customer service issues seem to be a problematic norm. Towards the end, one of the women apologized and applied a refund without us having to ask, which we appreciated but we won't be back,...
Read moreI’m giving three stars because we went at at the very end of the day, so I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt that it was really mostly that fact which contributed to the quality of the food we got. In an ideal world you would want to believe that they would be serving freshly cooked options right until close, but that’s not the realistic expectation I have of places these days, wasting money is just a luxury most don’t have right now. It was within an hour of the place closing, so bear that in mind. That being said, I was super hungry and what I ordered sounded amazing! Being so hungry I’m easy to please, but what we got was mostly not edible to me, which is saying a lot 😆. The meat had decent flavor but the texture was extremely rubbery, like it seemed very very much like it had just been microwaved, and like it probably was alright earlier in the day but the texture was so rubbery I had to stop eating after just a few bites. Really disappointing because I was still pretty hungry and I've put up with some pretty mediocre food for the sake of just eating something but I just couldn't do it.. I really hope it was just because they didn't want to grill up another fresh batch of meat and that during busier hours of the day you'd actually get it fresh and it is as good as it seemed like it could be. Maybe don't go here after the dinner rush? The food we got was deserving of less stars but I only tried them once and it seems like an unfair judgement to tarnish their rating based on that...
