Service is 10/10. There were specific assets of each meal that was served that deserved improvement, but again, this is my opinion. In my opinion the $20 3 Piece Halibut Fish & Chips Should consist of more seasoning on the fish itself, rather than putting everything into the batter. Furthermore, the batter was almost too crispy thus taking away from the Halibut. My galfriend mentioned the tartar sauce was mixed with jalapeno and did not please her pallete. However, the garlic mashed potatoes are AMAZING! In addition, the Skewers both beef and chicken were delightful and the meal came with a healthy sized portion of rice and beans, as well as 2 flour tortillas. Yummy! However, the chips, salsa & beans that we started out with left much to be desired. Especially considering the beans appeared to be "black eyed peas" which I suppose you can try to incorporate into Hispanic cooking? The Pinto beans that accompanied the skewers were much better. Finally, they are open late, and this is a plus. One of the latest closing restaurants on the East Side of 205. Cactus Yaya had a chill environment, magical real fireplaces outside that you can enjoy your meal in front of, and a quaint little putt course outside! They also come armed & ready with a full bar. Also, their service is AMAZING. Tonight my galfriend & I had the pleasure of meeting Brittany, who deserves 10/10 for her awesome, attentive & real customer service. Thanks Cactus Yaya,...
Read moreWalked in, waited to be seated. Ashley walked up and we asked her to sit at the bar. She asked us if we were 21 which was okay but obviously or else I wouldn’t have asked to sit AT THE BAR and you can look at my ID when I sit down. We get seated and she comes back and asks for ID’s. My boyfriend and I both gave her our passports and she tried to tell us they were expired. You should know how to read a passport if you are going to he handling alcohol. It clearly says it expires in 2029…she was giving attitude when we were telling her she was looking at it wrong. We ordered drinks and she came back and dropped them off without saying a word and walked off. Never took our order. She proceeded to avoid us and we had to get up and tell her we were ready to take our order. She was too busy folding silverware to take care of her table. When she dropped off our food she was completely silent again. Dropped it off and walked away. We asked for the check because we wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. Drops off the check IN SILENCE AGAIN. I really hope she does not treat all her tables like this. I will definitely not be returning. I’ll reconsider when she...
Read moreI've heard good things about this place and have wanted to go for years.
I took a friend for her birthday a few weeks ago. The service and drinks were wonderful and the black eyed pea dip with the chips was so tasty. But I'm hoping it was an off night because the food was not great. I really hate to say that but it was almost like it was a mess up order that had been sitting under a warmer for AWHILE.
The food came out really quickly which normally would be great but it was quicker than really possible. The rice was hard and dry and there was so much melted cheese and sauce on everything that we couldn't decipher what food was under it. That's a classic restaurant tactic to freshen things up.
On the plus side, if it was an accidental order that they were able to serve, at least it wasn't wasted. It also had good enough flavor that I'd be curious enough to try it fresh.
The ambiance is really lively and we did enjoy ourselves so I'll definitely give the place another chance. Maybe just for...
