Read moreI usually hate leaving a bad review for a Mexican restaurant, especially being Mexican myself, but this place just wasn’t it.
From the start, it was confusing. No one greeted us or explained what to do. We eventually sat down and got menus, but no one ever came to take our order. After waiting a while, we just walked up to the window and ordered there. Honestly kind of wished we had just left at that point.
We got different tacos, pork adobado, carnitas, and asada. None of them were good. The adobado was super dry and falling apart. The asada, which is usually a safe bet, was bland. And the carnitas had no flavor at all. We only had one bite and could not eat it. Even the salsas were flavorless. The only thing I liked was the agua fresca, and even that came with no explanation, it turned out to be strawberry.
After we got our food, no one ever checked on us. We waited a long time, then finally had to ask someone for the check. No one asked how the food was, even with a full taco still sitting on the plate.
I’m honestly surprised by all the good reviews. Maybe I just have a higher standard for Mexican food, or I’m not who this place is meant for. If you’re Mexican or you know what real Mexican food tastes like, I’d say skip this spot.
One good thing, the margaritas were cheaper than other places. But heads up, the online menu is wrong. Tacos are more than $4...
Read moreI went there with my husband on Sunday. There was one other family in there. We had three carne asada tacos and one mushroom. The tacos were decently filled, albeit a bit in the greasy side. I prefer my meat to have the grease drained off. The tacos shells were ok, fried with yet more oil dripping off. For the $4 price tag for each I wouldn't come back. There are already too many options in Downtown Vancouver with Conejo, Provecho and La Frontera. I haven't even tried La Fiesta yet. This place just wasn't exceptional enough. No basket of chips and salsa. No extra toppings.
I can drive to La Valentina on hwy 99 and get exceptional tacos for a great price. They'll toss in free chips and salsa plus some pickled carrots, peppers and lime for my tacos.
I wish this place well but it's just...
