Went to Gray’s while staying at the accompanying hotel on business (airlines). I travel frequently and I am always on the lookout for healthy meals with good fats and protein. Rather than eat protein bars and snacks of my bag, I decided an omelette would be nice, and decided to give Grays a try. It was a Saturday approaching lunch time, and I don’t think there was more than a couple customers in the restaurant. The atmosphere was nice, it was a beautiful day and they had big windows opened up to the outdoor sidewalk. However the lack of customers may have been because of some anti-customer business practices I found to follow. The food was decent. The 3 egg omelette was pretty standard. Had good flavor, maybe the eggs were slightly overdone but it wasn’t burnt or unappetizing by any means. Pretty standard I would say as far as food on the road goes. However I’m reducing a star purely because this restaurant feels justified to charge a “to-go” fee for any to-go orders. That type of price-gouging should never become an acceptable practice for any restaurant as American consumers and tourists are already nickel and dimmed for many aspects in their lives already. Often I choose the “to-go” route to save some time as I can get more work done in the hotel room, rather than enjoy the full dine-in experience, however I found Grays actually penalizes the customer for choosing to take food to go, by charging an extra $2.50 (often more than a standard 15% tip costs) which misleads the consumer by charging a fee that isn’t advertised within their menu (at least from the quick glance I saw online). I hope the management of this establishment chooses to remove this fee in the future, otherwise next time I’m here for business, I’ll most likely be looking elsewhere for food options. There is an abundance of restaurants in the area.

I went to Gray's a couple of years ago for Thanksgiving and had a very enjoyable meal. This time, that was not the case. I'll put it to you this way. I've had better Thanksgiving dinners in the hospital! The only palatable part of the meal was the mashed potatoes. New potatoes with the Skins, not my favorite, and it seemed to have been whipped into a gelatinous, salty blob. Like I said, the only thing palatable on the plate. The turkey was dry as a bootheel and covered with this funny sour gravy made with cheap wine. Oh, and did I mention it was all kind of cold. The real train wreck what is the dressing. Somebody had the bright idea of making dressing out of extra sourdough artisan bread. You know, the kind you can chip your teeth on. Well, you could almost chip your teeth on this dressing. Being made from sourdough, the dressing tasted like somebody spilled a bucket of vinegar into the dressing before they served it. Absolutely hideous. To top things off , we ordered the pecan pie. Frozen food service style you might expect to get at Denny's or some off-beat cafeteria at a steel factory. What I did eat had so much salt my feet blew up like ballons!! I just can't believe I spent any money to find out how bad this was. Needless to say I sent it all back and paid for our drinks and left. I think I'll think twice before going back. It's a nice option if you're not having family over but not if it's going to be this bad. All the other restaurants were closed. I went home and ate a much tastier CAN of chili.

The waitresses were all a perfect balance of professional and personable, AND they were relaxed, competent, and happy. Our waitress was well familiar with the menu, made excellent recommendations, and even took a minute to gush about French onion soup with me (she swears Gray's is the best, but...). If you don't normally eat a lot, approach your choices with caution. The portions are just right, but there are so many irresistible options, it's easy to order a feast and realize one starter was all you could fit. They had a cocktail whose name I can't remember for the life of me, but it was vodka, some kind of fancy lemon water (honey lemon??), Grapefruit juice, and club soda, maybe? It was garnished with a sprig of rosemary, which is gross to me, but easy enough to pluck out. It was a DELICIOUS drink! And so refreshing! At $14 a pop, though, I recommend you try to remember that the free water will quench your thirst as well...just in case you're tempted to request one , and "...keep em comin." For specific recommendations, the steak frittes were to die for. They crumble gorgonzola dolce on them and....SWOON. The baked mini baguettes were also swoon-a-licious. The giant pretzel looked great, but we had to take it home, as our stomachs were threatening to strike if we ate more. We *did* try the pimento cheese that came with it, and it was divine.

Brought my father and family in for a father's day breakfast. This was a place they loved to frequent often. Was seated and waited on by David. The table ordered 2 coffees, one black, one with cream. We were brought the coffee with no cream, so my wife politely got up and asked David if we could have some cream for the table. He responded "I am very busy and you're going to have to go sit down." She nicely asked if there was somewhere she could go to grab some since he was busy, and he responded "like I said, go sit down." My wife calmly sat down and explained to us what had happened. As David walks by to get the cream he forgot to bring with the coffe, I noticed he was glaring at my wife. When he came to the table I told him he needs to stop giving my wife the side eye and how it was unacceptable. He pointed at my wife saying she was being aggressive and she responded with "I politely asked for some cream" so David responded with "now I'm getting mad." I then asked for the manager and David refused 3 requests. I even made sure on the final request to be crystal clear, and said "I just want to want to be clear that you are refusing to let me speak to your manager," and he responded "yep!" I was made aware after we left, not only did he keep sarcastically saying "happy father's day" to my father as he would walk by, he also involves other tables by saying "thank you for being patient, unlike other people." My family then decided to quietly get up and leave, and the server continued to try and escalate the situation by proding at them, and continued to repeate "have a good father's day" as they were leaving. Management seemed responsive when they were made aware, but who knows, these days. Unfortunately, I can say, my wife and I will never be back. The whole experience delayed our day/plans by a couple hours. At least we had a funny memory to talk about at 13 coins, where we enjoyed a lovely meal with great service. Thanks for that, David! I hope management sees this, and takes some sort of action. I understand that good help is hard to find in these times, but bad help is not worth...
