Took my in-laws and husband here as a gift, and while the food was decent the service was a mess from start to the end of the meal:
*The waitress told us while struggling to carry our drinks to the table, that she “sucked at this”. When we asked if the ribeye came with a side she said yes it did come with a purée side. Come to find out this was a sauce for the steak not an actual side dish, the menu was never explained to us that it was more of a “a la cart / small plates” menu.
*We tried to order the bone marrow dish (which we were very excited about) only to be told they were already out of this (at 4:30pm on a Saturday).
*Server dropped the ginger pears from the baked Brie we ordered on my father-in-law, didn’t promptly move to clean up the mess, then forgot to bring a replacement for it (we had to remind him to do so). When asked what another side dish was that he brought to the table he said he didn’t know and would have to go ask someone.
*Our waitress told us at one point when asking my husband and father-in-law if they wanted a refill of their iced tea that she was told she was not allowed to bring the pitcher of iced tea to the table, that she would need to take their cups over to the pitcher at the bar to refill them then bring them back to the table. Found this strange, but was ok with it until she mixed their cups up when she brought them back to the table. We found this out when my husband took a sip of his iced tea and it clearly had sweetener in it now from what was left over in said cup that was refilled. My husband does not use sweetener in his tea, she had clearly switched his cup with my father-in-laws who does use sweetener. Thank god it was just family in our party.
*To top off the night, the owner told us that a birthday party was coming in and they needed our table…..now, at least it was said in a polite way, but it still felt strange after spending close to $400 on dinner to be rushed out of the restaurant not long after we paid. Also, at the time we were asked to leave there were several other tables that appeared to be open. If there was going to be a limit on the duration that we could sit in the location we picked it would have been nice to know this ahead of time.
All this being said, the food was expensive but for the most part decent, I would not order the asparagus (they were burnt) or the duck fat fries again (nothing special about them), but for what I thought to be more of an upscale restaurant (and definitely prices to match) I believe more effort should be put into their service, it really felt disorganized from start to end and left all of us scratching our heads wondering why this place came so highly...
Read moreOh my where do I even start! We came to dinner to celebrate after getting married. The food was amazing! Everything was made to share which I think is SUCH a great concept, there was so much to choose from and boy did we do some damage. The spicy Mac and cheese was perfectly spicy and so creamy but not too rich. Cleaned the dish! The special rack of lab with parsnip puree and grilled asparagus was so tender and juice. The birria was so flavorful and all the side sauces along with the pickled onion made the perfect little taco. We also got the charcuterie board and man did they pack that thing FULL. I would probably have liked a sturdier bread but the bread it did have was well seasoned, light and flakey. Absolutely delicious! The buratta was so creamy and fresh. The accompanied sauce in CUTEST little bottle was a great add on to the buratta and bruschetta. (I think it was bruschetta) the carbonara was a healthy serving, so rich and creamy. I do wish the egg was a little more runny though. The chicken thigh and steak skewers were almost a regret because we had already ordered so much, and then we tried them. LORDY! We ate them all, the meat was cooked perfectly! Even though were full to the brim we did save room for dessert and when I say that I mean we ordered every single item on the menu. In order from favorite to least favorite I'd have to say - pot de creme (loved the smokey salted caramel and chocolate), lemon meringue, bread pudding, poached pear with gorganzola ice cream, creme brulee and the lava cake. last busy not least, our server. I wish I got her name but she was amazing! We had a truly incredible time. Thank so much and we will...
Read moreI ordered the squash yakitori and the truffle Mac and cheese. The squash was well cooked butternut and zucchini. The menu indicated a caramelized onion sauce. The dish seemed to come with a generic tonkatsu/yakitori sauce and pickled red onions. It was a delicious 4 bites. For $8 I would have liked to see the plate resemble what the menu described. Food allergies are no joke. I'm hoping the sauce didn't contain tomatoes or red pepper powder. Guess I'll find out tomorrow. I'm glad I ordered the Mac and cheese to go. The large cavatappi was fun to eat. Cooked just over aldente and carried the sweet creamy black pepper bechamel well; which reheated without separating. While there were no truffles in the dish the use of truffle oil was strong but not overpowering. I added some freshly grated pecorino at home for a sharp salty cheese kick I think rounded out the dish. The drink menu was inticing and I will try a mockcocktail next time. Drink prices seemed reasonable for the quality of ingredients offered. Service was amazing. Friendly and attentive with a relaxed no really take your time vibe. The server understood the menu and actively worked to make sure my experience was personalized and enjoyable. The atmosphere was warm cozy and inviting, while still feeling professional and clean. Pros: excellent service and environment, creative and tasty dishes at a variety of price ranges. Drink menu. Cons: price to value on food, menu does not 100% reflect dishes at the table. If you have food allergies service seems very happy to go over ingredients not listed on the menu. Be safe ask about the menu item you...
