So this is a a continued review from Julia Dillard anyways they told me that they don’t do anything hand free they don’t do any drawings. So I asked them then what can they do, they said they can put flowers on it. So then I told her ok put yellow and purple flowers since purple was the teachers favorite color and then make the writing black. I said basically make it yellow black and white because it’s going to be a bee theme and an idea popped In my head that I can just find bee cake toppers and do it myself. So then I asked the lady on the phone if she thought that the purple would look weird with a yellow white and black cake and she responded to me in a rude way saying she doesn’t know that it was my cake and to put what I wanted on it. I replied with well it would have been nice to have some feedback on what they thought. It was silent for a minute and I said forget the purple just yellow and white flowers with black writing. I told her to put happy retirement Mrs. * I am not going to put the name due to privacy. After all that giving my info she asked when I needed it and I said tomorrow morning when they open at 9. She said that it would be ready. I have them 24 hour notice. she never asked for a payment or anything and she said that it would be ready tomorrow at 9 and we hung up. The next morning I go in and tell her my order name and she brings out this lopsided un even cake places it on the counter to show me and the chocolate shavings started to fall off. She looked and didn’t even say anything. I read what it said and the name on the cake was mispelled!! The first letter should have been a V and they put a B! I was very clear over the phone. I told her the problem and I will say she did apologize and took it to the back to have the decorator fix it. They swiped the B and put a V. When I tell you that it looks like my 2nd grader wrote this I mean it!!! She didn’t even give me a discount or anything. I didn’t ask because yes it was fixed, but you can see where they wiped it. It just looked horrible! But what could I do? I had previously bought some bee cake toppers so I kept thinking everything will be ok I will fix it. So u went home fixed it the best I could. If it wasn’t for my decorations this cake would have been so ugly!!!! Horrible quality. I am just so disappointed. On top of that my dad had bought 5 cakes in the last year from them and 3 out of the 5 cakes he bought had the wrong filling in it. My dad told them and they just said they were sorry. My dad gave them the benefit of the doubt since he has been going there for over 20 years. When my dad told them about it again while he was ordering the next cake he asked Them to make sure the filling was Bavarian cream. They insisted it would be Bavarian cream. Well fast forward to the baby shower and we cut open. The cake and it was NOT Bavarian cream!!! I would not recommend this place anymore. I am seriously thinking about finding somewhere else to go. Taking a gamble on 60 dollar cakes is ridiculous! I pay good money. It shouldn’t be this way plus the people there are absolutely rude. Here is a pic of the cake before I personally put anything on it and after I put...
Read moreBEWARE!! As a customer for nearly 30 years at Larson's bakery on Mill Plain, I have personally recommended them to many people over the years. I can no longer do so. I have been a customer this long because not only do they have an outstanding bakery, but they have had outstanding customer service over the years. This has changed. Don't waste your time calling them for an order. You will be placed on eternal hold. I just wanted to know if they had a particular product they had been out of for the last couple weeks. Finally, I gave up calling and went to the bakery to place my order. I placed order and asked for the manager. I was told they have no manager at that store. They only have an owner. I asked for the owners name because I noticed the last few times that I have been in their store that their customer service was rude and I wanted to let them know because I am sure they care about it. It seems like the management had changed. I wanted to know if that was the case. So today I politely asked for the manager after placing my order.
A lady name Fiya or Feya or something like that said she was not the manager but had been there for 20 years. I began to tell her about the product they were out of and before I could explain how that tied into the customer service complaint I had, I was interrupted and spoken over in a very rude tone and an angry look on Fiya's face. Now frustrated because she was mad at me and speaking in a raised voice over me before I could explain what the problem was, she spoke sharply to the other girl making my sandwich and told her to stop making my sandwhich and she yelled at me in front of about 7 or 8 customers in the store and then ordered me to leave the store. I said no problem and asked for the owners name. She refused to give me the owners name. She also accused me of yelling at her, which I did not do. I simply tried to talk over her as she interrupted me and clearly did not yet understand what I was concerned about.
In addition to this, when you call them on the phone, they immediately tell you they are placing you on hold and don't give you a chance to say a word. So, if it is around lunch time, you are wasting your time trying to call this place.
This is a BIG change from how I have been treated many times over the years. I have always loved Larson's bakery but now I feel like I cannot even go back there because I don't want to...
Read moreNOT THE BAKERY IT USED TO BE. Larsen's used to be the gold standard in Vancouver! On November 2nd, I stopped in and purchased a cake from the bakery case. That evening we tried the cake, and it was stale and dry. Based on past experience with Larsen's, I chalked it up to one bad cake (albeit at a premium price!). Today, December 10th, I stopped in for their festive Christmas cookies, bought a tin and a couple large single cookies. Once we got home and unable to resist a Larsen's cookie any longer, my husband and I each had a cookie. They were stale, dry, and hard! Two bad experiences in a row? I called the bakery and asked to speak with the bakery manager; however, the woman who answered the phone said, "This is Laura, and you can speak to me." When I explained the stale, dry cookies and that I thought that they would want to know about this quality issue (because quality used to be their hallmark in past years), she immediately became argumentative, stating that "Those cookies are only 2 days old!" Not only did she not apologize for the bad experience, she simply stated that it's possible that maybe some cookies were not rotated out and that she'd pass that information on. An apology would have easily mitigated the situation, but "Laura" chose to exasserbate an irritating experience. What an asset she must be to...
