If i could give it no stars I would, This place is a mess, any place can be a mess if it has rude employees. I am talking about this person with a long burnet hair girl that works there and she calls herself a manager, I have seen that person about three times at least, and she usually takes care of the cash, Today i went there to get myself the as usual drink that I get when I got there, This girl faced me with a Devil look on her face she carries all the hate every time she sees me! She's completely rude and always insists on over charging me even though I know she dose because if I say something about it she will get in my face as she did today about my drink when I told the barista to remake it because he screwed up with it the first time. She got in my face and didn't allow me to speak to him, in till I told her to keep her voice down, all she needed is to pick a fight with me and I knew it, she is very very rude i don't know how to express myself or explain how rude she was, she was way out line, other than she's trashy, and the way she talks is trashy and uneducated, When she was yelling and screaming at me I told her that she is a low class of a person and that she shouldn't be talking or helping customers. so After she gave up she asked me to leave and never comeback. Very rude service, very rude people it is unbelievable. All I can say if you got there just be careful from her even though you're not going to know who I am talking about, but thought to put this feedback it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreContinuing my quest for the best coffee house in Vancouver, Compass Coffee hasnāt met my expectations.
The ambiance of their coffee shop is warm and appealing. They have enough seating with separate 2/4-seater tables, one large community table and bar-side/window seating. I havenāt been there during any ārushā hour so Iām not certain on seating availability.
Iām glad they offer free WiFi and although they donāt list it on their menu, they offer coconut milk as an alternative.
AND NOW, THE COFFEE- I am a fan of coffee beverages other than drip coffee. I ordered a halfcaff coconut milk latte. She prepared it by steaming the milk and then making an Americano to add to it!! Not the best way to make a good latte. I prefer having a nice coffee flavor and scent to my latte which requires an espresso shot and unfortunately their latte tasted watered down and sweet from the āsweetened coconut milkā. The deal-breaker is that they charge $1.50 for coconut milk making my 12 oz. latte $5.50!!!! That is THE most I have ever paid for a coffee beverage and that will be the last.
The best coffee house in Vancouver and my favorite still remains PINES Coffee on Mill Plain. They have unique flavors, lattes, mochas, seasonal flavors, they do not charge for alternative milk options (they make their own milk options in-house), they do not charge an arm and a leg for a 12oz latte and they have a rewards system which keeps me coming back (good...

A friend I hadn't seen in some time suggested we meet here, and I was more interested in the person than the coffee, so the location was fine by me. I figured they would have something that wasn't coffee.
The staff there is extremely friendly. The atmosphere has a definite "neighborhood place" vibe. The chairs aren't super comfortable, but the setting still has a coziness to it. The layout is, however, subject to a minor traffic jam or two if you need to move around to get to the counter, the bus/trash area, etc..
The location is on a readily accessible corner, and near several other things in downtown Vancouver - just two blocks from Esther Short Park.
My one knock on the place is the failure to recognize that even major coffee drinkers sometimes hang with non-coffee drinkers. As a non-coffee/tea drinker, I'm not expecting a major selection, but having a few semi-mainstream alternatives seems a reasonable expectation. In the end, any such option was eclectic to say the least. Fortunately, I'm ok with Kambuca, and was able to find a flavor that worked.
On the bright side, they did have a few baked goods. The scone I had was delicious (guessing something from Blue Door) - almost enough by itself to make me go back.
Overall, it was a nice place to sit and chat. Coffee drinkers should expect options, but not an overwhelming number. Likewise for...
