We went to dinner to celebrate my birthday on a Thursday night. Party of 11 arrived at 7:05pm. No call-ahead seating or reservations accepted. We were told 30-40 minute wait, which is expected for a party of our size. After that long, a lady who I assume was a manager (she was wearing a red shirt and managing table seating) told us that the party at the only available table for us had already paid but weren't leaving. She apologized for the wait. After almost an hour, the waiter came to apologize to us for the wait and said there was nothing he could do to make that party leave, it was up to a manager to do something. We were finally seated over an hour later. We ordered 2 appetizers and our meals. Two people had Sprite and the syrup to soda ratio was off so the waiter said they probably needed to replace the syrup on the fountain and said he'd bring new ones. He did not. While we waited for appetizers to arrive, we expected to be served the "unlimited" popovers but didn't receive any. We ate our appetizers and waited another 30 minutes for salad and popovers to arrive around 9:10pm. When the waiter handed us the popovers, he explained that they were the last ones the kitchen made and there weren't any more available. He said because he didn't have enough for everyone at our table, WE'D HAVE TO SHARE. We reminded him about the Sprites and when he returned, he said there wasn't anymore available. Our meals arrived at about 9:40pm and the 3 orders with "hasselback" potatoes were served baked potatoes. One guest who had eaten here before could attest to how they were not correct. They were not accordian-sliced and were not fried. The waiter said "see the slices on the peel." He did offer to bring different sides but at that point we were too hungry and tired to wait longer. One steak was undercooked, another steak was supposed to be the drunken NY strip and it was blackened. One guest had salmon and they were kind enough to add 2 cuts because the waiter said the first portion on the plate was too small. By 10:05pm we were so tired and asked for our desserts to be boxed to take home. We left the restaurant around 10:15pm exhausted and...
Read moreA lifelong buddy came down from Wisconsin for a visit for the 1st time and I have been treating him to seafood. He tells me today that he likes seafood but what he really wanted was a good steak and wanted to treat me. I went to my phone to do some research and saw the good ratings on your place so we worked in the yard till 8.30 pm and headed over. Sat at the bar to eat because there was no wait there. We were not disappointed on anything. He is a financial investment high roller and used to the best and has treated clients like big league baseball players to the best. He recommended that I try the bone in ribeye since I had never had one and he got the filet mignon and was thrilled they carried twice baked potatoes as well. He got himself a nice Guinness stout beer on tap to go with it. He loved his food. He tasted some of my steak and said it was the best bone in ribeye he ever had. I agreed it was a great steak. Best tasting I had ever had and I have been to all 50 States and 11 foreign countries. They accommodated my allergy to onion and garlic on the things I ordered. The popover rolls that came with the meal were gorgeous and tasted as good as my Paris trained French uncle's back in the day who was a chef at the Palmer House in Chicago in the early days of the establishment. Staff here were all very nice, very helpful, and very accommodating. . They earned the 20percent tip Dan left them. My buddy finished his meal with a nice glass of Fonseca Sherry and I had their coffee. We both loved the drinks as well. Thank you for a great evening for two old buddies to remember and catch up on. We finished with going to Nokomis Jetty to look up at the stars, hear the waves crashing, and have a nice cigar. (He was thrilled with that too). I highly recommend this restaurant. Great everything and not at all a snobby place. If you want that , then get your business suit on as required at the other high rated steakhouse up in Sarasota. I don't know how that other place could begin to improve on this place. Only thing I can say at all is if you like your steamed broccoli really crunchy then let them know. They will...
Read moreAs a Venice local, I'm going to have to give Prime Steakhouse another chance. 😅 Bc I couldn't and wouldn't recommend to friends or family...
I ordered a 9oz Medium Rare filet mignon, What I got was rare-raw. I tasted burnt exterior and not a delicious char. As is evident by the photographical proof and my tongue. Cold interior seems like it was just thrown on grill with high heat and flipped both sides. Probably not internally checked for temp. Honestly, the entree was the only disappointing part of meal and what I had looked most forward too. 😔I even said take your time and it's fine. Wasn't even a super busy night or packed...
Baked potato was too tough and I actually requested hassle-back cut so inaccurate order. Luckily, I ran to Publix and I'm currently making a baked potato myself tonight at home and shaving the burnt parts off and cooking the steak to a proper 130-140⁰F. I don't need bark on my filet, it's not a brisket or a tree or a dog. I also don't wish to eat steak tartar, I'm not a carnivore. Just some nice char marks and the steak cooked.
Overall: Server Jordan did good and tried to make up for it. She could tell by my facial queues and barely touching my plate that I was not satisfied with it at all. But the cold interior of my filet mignon was enough for me to lose my appetite. I'm a texture and temperature eater. So cold interior steak 🥩 n charcoal bite threw me off.
Drink was made good. Salad n pop over, good. Server, good. The decor, good. Just the entree was disappointing. If i bring guests or a date, we'll probably steer clear from any entree items. We'll stick to drinks and maybe try the apps.
I hope the next time Prime Steakhouse leaves a better memory. I hope to change this to a positive review. I tipped around 40% I waited patiently for my food. I was cordial and polite. I said table or bar, whatever is easiest. I’m not in question here as a customer. I just wanted a nice steak dinner and did...
