Urbane Cafe — Restaurant in Ventura

2nd visit and reason for both positive and negative feedback. 8:30 pm, 4-17-24, not busy, approximately 5 orders becoming digested upon order. This place, all urbane cafes are my go to for the enchilada soup, salmon bowl, and fresh off the grill cookie. This location fairly new to the area “I think” stands strong against a local favorite which usually is my only choice after 8pm in the area. My first visit the place was packed and a team of employees including the supervisor served a “field trip” of people and I couldn’t believe how hard everyone worked. Up to then I have never seen an urbane cafe perform this way. I even received my standard order within a few minutes, maybe 10, I hadn’t finished my cookie.

Today’s trip, a rather slow night, ordered my standard except they were out of tea, all lemonades and juices. I don’t eat the best but I try to steer clear of sugar drink sodas and diet as they don’t sit well. The cashier noticed the tea out as I turned and she immediately stated she will get me a cup of tea. As I waited a manager “I think” told me they were out of tea for the night and gave me such a wonderful look which made me debate walking across the street to get a glass of tropical tea. Luckily, a diner left there purse at a table which I promoted to advise the cook, only person at the time behind the counter. As I brought notice to the left luggage, the “manager” told him they were out of tea… which he corrected her with my shared message.

Here’s the kicker. The wonderful cashier brought my food with a glass of tea as she both worked the cashier, cleaned, served and got me a glass of tea while maintaining an excellent attitude, body language, facial expression, and tone. This is the first time I frequented, Urbane Café here on Thompson Boulevard. The staff are so professional, and friendly. The moment I walked in through their door, they all greeted me. As far as the food they prepare? The best! We drove in from LA because my husband had work close by this weekend We are both so impressed with their selection, freshness of the ingredients, and just how delicious everything is. I live in the neighborhood and have been watching with anticipating as they built this location, and upon opening it didn’t disappoint! Really good sandwiches, solid salads, tasty cookies and the knowledge that I’m eating (relatively) healthy for fast-ish food makes this a great go to lunch option.
