Ay Jaliscos is usually a good latin food restaurant but this time it just wasn't that good. When we first arrived it took about 10 minutes for them to sit us. Not bothered by that because they were a bit busy. We sat down, the table was small and the seats were very uncomfortable because they lean towards the table. The lean in the cushions was like a slated lean towards the table, the back was higher than the front. We ordered our drinks and everything was good. Let me say I love the decor in this particular location very beautifully painted! So we got our drinks and the chips and salsa which were delicious. The salsa had just enough kick and it was thick not watery. Ordered our food and the waiter didn't exactly let me finish ordering before he headed out to put the order in. I thought he heard me say I wanted salad with my dinner but I guess not. (For later reference). Their chef was great, food tasted good. The problem was that our food came out at different times. This could've been the cook or the waiters miscalculation. What makes me upset is that my sons food was out 5 minutes after my husbands, our other sons and my food was on the table. I don't recall having a problem like that when I have eaten out before. I waited for my salad, asked kindly twice for the waiter to bring a plate of pico de gallo and he acknowledged that he was going to get it. He passed my table several times without the salad. ... Check comes and still no salad and the waiter never mentions it. We paid and left. We will not be going back to this Ay Jalisco location. I hope your experience is a better one...
Read more**See update below! Once was a 5☆ is now average. Definitely the place to go for lunch! Monday-Friday until 3PM they offer lunch prices on limited dinner menu items without cutting back on the portions! The prices are very reasonable at all times and portions are always more than enough to eat. The free chips and salsa while you wait for your food is a nice touch. (Chips are warm and not salted, so enjoy the pure flavor explosion with the homemade salsa, but beware... you'll be hooked on this salsa and never look at a jar salsa the same way ever again! LOL) Whether you order a salad, fajita, burrito or my favorite, the fajita burrito (available in choice of chicken or steak at the same price!) you will not be disappointed. The staff is friendly and welcoming enough to keep you coming back. *Update * I don't know what happened, but the food has lost it's flavor and quality in the last few years. The last 9 out of 10 visits have been disappointing. Keep trying every 4-5 months when I used to go at least once a week. 😥 The food tastes like it was left over from the lunch rush, but it was lunchtime! Same thoughts at dinner time too! Some of the newer staff is not as friendly as they were when they were at their old location. The beef in the Fajita Burrito was scarce compared to what used to be in there, but just as well since the flank steak was like chewing bubblegum. I'm saddened to think my once favorite place for Mexican cuisine has fallen hard and fast. **Had to update again: They are definitely getting back on track!! Much better on my...
Read moreThis was our first time at this location. We won't be going back. It was the first time we have ever been served over cooked chips! When I ask for some that weren't cooked so long I was told it depended on who made them and that they were all done that way. So she brought some different ones that were just as over cook so I asked to talk to a manager. He said he would check we were brought some that were warm and not so over cooked mixed with the others. I noticed that anything on the menu that had avocados in it had the price blackened out. I know food prices are going up but I didn't think to ask how much. I ask for a side of guacamole, it had no seasoning at all. Nothing but avocado and sour cream. We added the salsa to it to spice it up. When we got the bill we were charged $6.75 for a side that was 1/2 cup. Thinking it was a mistake I ask for the manager again and was told that is took 4 avocados to make that 1/2 cup so yes the price was correct. Now I make guacamole myself and I don't add sour cream to mine and it doesn't take 4 to make 1/2 cup! I was told it cost over $11 for the made at the table size. My enchiladas tasted like they had been microwaved, rubbery. On the up side the salsa was hot and spicy. Won't go back and...
