Have been wanting to try Scampi grill since I’ve been working in the area. People speak so highly of them and their food. Only problem is they’re so popular that you have to have a reservation and when I’m deciding what to eat that evening it’s usually at the time I’m going to eat so I decided to do takeout…… I get to the restaurant at 6:05 walk in and there is a young lady at the desk. I told her I wanted to place an order to go and she said no problem and handed me a menu. Got done looking and said “soooo….” She semi rolled her eyes at me and I continued with my order. She repeated it back totally wrong and when I corrected her she said hold on. Then a waitress showed up. Took my order no problem. I paid the $37 bill and gave her a $10 cash tip. She took my name and phone number and told me they would call when it was ready. I’m like, cool. So I went to my truck and I waited……. And waited……. And waited some more. Finally after about 35 minutes I walk inside to investigate and sure enough there sits my order on the sideboard by the door… getting cold. I asked the young lady at the desk who was currently in a conversation with a busboy I assume, how long it had been sitting there. She said she had no idea. I told her that I thought they were going to call me when it was ready. She said “look, I really don’t know. Do you want to take it up with the waitress??” Wow. Come on Scampi….. I just spent $50 on a single meal and get treated like that from a 13 y/o( could be a bit exaggerated but you get my point) order was placed at 6:11 and I left the parking lot with my dinner at 6:48. Now to the food! Shrimp… perfectly cooked! Scallops…. Perfectly cooked! Pasta….. perfectly cooked! Garlic basil sauce delicious All of it would have been way better had it not been stone cold especially the bread. Didn’t help matters that my mood was not very good at this point as well. Will I go back?…… maybe , because the food was...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I absolutely love this restaurant. We come here routinely on our date nights and have never been disappointed other than tonight. Our server Steve had clearly just been sat 4 times in a row including us. He was running around like crazy, still managed to clean off our table between courses, and provided excellent service. We sat across from one of his other tables who were clearly miserable the whole time, not talking to each other and on their phones. Steve had made the simple mistake of accidentally closing out their checks for ours which is easily fixed on the Toast system (I work on this system as well). I heard them say that their check was $137, which is only a $12 difference from ours. I saw the couple still pay their bill and leave, I then approached Steve to make sure that they tipped him accordingly and to give him extra cash on top of what we left on our card. I was informed that due to his simple mistake that he was fired. I was so upset by hearing this that I had to go back inside the restaurant and insisted on talking to management about it. I am VERY disappointed in the owners and the management of this establishment for firing an employee for a simple mistake that every server makes. ESPECIALLY when they quadruple seat them in a row. On top of telling that same table that they are currently understaffed. Has the management never been servers before? Have they never made a simple mistake before? When i return to the restaurant I will inquire about Steve and hope to see that he is still there. If not then I hope bigger and better things are to come to him. Everyone makes mistakes and the management needs to be more compassionate with...
Read moreI've lived in Vero my entire life and this is the ONLY restaurant that I actually dream about. We usually go for our anniversary or other special occasions and are always delighted with the service (even when they're super busy, which is always) and the amazing dishes served up. Hubby usually tries a different meal and is always thrilled, but I order the same thing every time and will most definitely continue to do so. I order the artichoke hearts, spinach salad, and eggplant rollatini. Although I generally live and breathe for dessert, I've yet to have room for dessert and I always have leftovers to take home. Please keep in mind, if you're wanting a quick meal, you may want to consider coming when you have more time to sit, enjoy, and take it all in. They are true to the notion often associated with Italian culture in which every bite of your meal should be savoured, as opposed to our typical American idea of rushing through our food. Although hubby and i are taking a dedicated break from carbs, we'd both happily dive in head first if we were planning on eating at Scampi Grill. When going for dinner, I happily skip lunch or have it much earlier to make sure I'm ready for an amazing dining experience. I can't say enough positive things about this place, folks. If I could give it more stars, I certainly would. Ps- although the atmosphere is more upscale, wear clothes which are forgiving to a full belly. You'll be there for a while and so absolutely full. If you park toward the back of the property, you may want to back in. It can get a bit hairy trying to back out of a...
