Update : Finally got round to trying the stir fried beef with rice sticks. It's a passable version of the dish in sgv, I've had better and I had worse. Given the low low price it's a stonking best buy. Xlb soup dumplings was the same as last time, which scored points for consistency, and it's the reason why my friend was addicted and insisted to go there. Also the wonton soup improved: the soup has a deeper flavor and it came together better. I'd upgrade it from average to above average. Both could stand comparison to some of the specialist joints in sgv, so save the drive downhill for cravings.
I'm surprised there's dim sum (small snack like dishes) in Victorville, and I wish them every success as this is one measure if our town is boring or not. All dim sum at a jaw droppingly cheap $4,50. I would split the food I tried into three groups: 1) really good and firmly recommended - hakow (shrimp dumplings ), siumai (pork dumplings ), spareribs and chicken paws; 2) recommended with slight reservation : charsiu (roast pork ) bun [dough too soft, may need more kneading or less time steaming, filling was great], xlb Shanghai soup dumplings [seasoning slightly bland, but it has flowing juice so nothing wrong with execution ], egg fried rice [slightly enthusiastic on the oil but flavor was good] 3) tasted different from dim sum of the same name as those in sgv, recommended to try at the minimal cost of one go-cup coffee, you may like them - wonton soup, beef balls, chives shrimp cake, and dai bao. For example beef balls resemble more Thai style beef balls with tendons, or dai bao was a giant chicken bun and other ingredients that's traditional with dai bao, but in itself there's nothing wrong with that as long as the taste is okay. Except don't go down to sgv and yell at people for infringement of trades descriptions act of 1963. Everyone can defend themselves by saying it's how their grandma cook that. Stir fried beef with rice sticks are sold out at 3pm, so it's a hot item. Will return to rectify this omission with update. Never say the high desert don't know a good thing when...
Read morePerhaps I expected too much . I was very excited to try out this new dim sum place . We did get there 10 min before closing time which I was not aware of the closing time being soo early 7pm. So they didn't want to seat us understandably. A young hispanic waitress offered us take out . Which I was okay with .I just found it odd that the owner was hovering over the young waitress as i ordered. I don't think he was to happy to have to make a last order........ the menu is rather small so I quickly chose a wanton soup which was flavorless/bland and the wanton filling was filled with shrimp and what felt like pork cartilage not my favorite at all. I also ordered the beef rice noodle stir fry it was Also flavorless and tasted like a dirty grill (better off going to the thai place across the street) . I figured I try something new so I chose the sticky rice chicken wraped in a weird leaf ; it was interesting 🤔 😅not too flavorful . I also got the green onion pancake that was good (this review is not all negative RELAX) 👍. Also got the milk tea 🧋(I approve 👌) they didn't have Boba the owner said as he hovered over the waitress. It just seemed like he didn't want to make my order. But over all I don't think I'll go back . Because even if the service was mediocre(by the owner , the girl was sweet) 🙄 😒 when the food is bomb 💣 😋 👌 I'll definitely go back . But not this place . I rather drive 1 hour to Rancho Cucamonga next to 99 ranch there's like 4 dimsum restaurants right next to eachother which are definitely worth the drive. I hope this review helps . But I'd still give it a try maybe...
Read moreI visited Young Dim Sum and had an outstanding dining experience. The food was absolutely delicious, and the customer service was exceptional, thanks to Maggie, who provided excellent service and guidance.
I tried several dishes, each offering a unique and flavorful experience:
Shu Mai: These traditional pork and shrimp dumplings were perfectly steamed and packed with savory goodness. Beef Roll Up Pancakes: Tender slices of beef wrapped in a flaky, slightly sweet pancake, creating a delightful contrast of textures and flavors. Xia Long Bao: These soup dumplings were a highlight, with thin, delicate skins encasing a rich, savory broth and tender meat filling. Sichuan Spicy Wonton: These wontons had just the right amount of heat, balanced by a flavorful sauce that added depth to each bite. Fried Dumplings: Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, these dumplings were perfectly cooked and incredibly satisfying. Vietnamese Coffee: A strong, sweet, and creamy coffee that provided a perfect ending to the meal.
Maggie took the time to explain the menu in detail and taught me how each dish should be paired with different sauces and vinegar to enhance the flavors. Her attention to detail and willingness to ensure I had a great experience made a significant impact on my visit.
Overall, Young Dim Sum offers a fantastic culinary journey with exceptional service. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy authentic and...
