First and last time - never again! Last night 9/26/20 we called in a take out order at the new Green Olive restaurant in Vineland and was excited about having a newer restaurant in the area being Italian food. We went to pick up our food and brought it home. This was the 1st time ordering from this restaurant. For sake of being a new restaurant, my wife and I always order 2 different meals each to eat in case what we ordered was not up to expectations. We are trying to eat low carb (as possible) and called 2x ahead of ordering to make sure they could accommodate our request. We were told no problem. My wife ordered: Broiled seafood combo hold the baked potato and double the veggie medley. This came with a soup - she picked italian wedding (no other soups even close to low carb- understandable). She also ordered a Southwestern steak salad. My items were the mediterranean chicken with veggie medley substituted for pasta. This also comes with a soup- I picked french onion - (i know... not low carb- but it was my choice) . I also ordered a Santa Fe chicken salad. Right from the start a few things in our order were wrong. Hers-- order given on phone for holding baked potato and giving veggie medley was not taken down on order so my wife received a baked potato... she was out the extra veggies so she tried the potato...no bueno for low carb, but hey she was hungry. Her description-- Dry and hard. Shrimp hard as a rock -very over cooked, crab cake no flavor...like a new person just learning to make them. Fish was OK. -- subpar for italian restaurant --- Now.. the soup..very very bland, barely anything in it, broth was a generic chicken broth, 2 meatballs. Salad-- some pieces of steak on the salad were not fully cooked and no type of spice or flavor for a Southwestern steak & mostly iceberg lettuce for a mixed greens salad. And not a single bleu cheese crumble to be seen. Now on to mine--- the mediterranean chicken. I asked for the pasta to be substituted with veggie medley, which was taken down on order and on the receipt. The mediterranean chicken was to be put over top of the veggies I requested. Instead what I was given was a to go container with of a chicken piece with a chopped up tomato and chunks of feta cheese and 3 spinach leaves swimming in the garlic basil sauce that its supposed to have & not even a single sprig of a mixed veggie that was asked to sub for the pasta. The french onion soup.. best part was the cheese on top... and let me leave it at that. The Santa Fe chicken salad I have only one word--- Okay.... not bad... not great, just Okay. So, our order was incorrect ...let alone the food was a 1-2 out of 5. I called the restaurant, talked with them, and was told 10% will be taken off my $85 dollar take-out bill (paid with CC...we'll see) and was told on the phone, during this call, that we weren't the only ones that had problems with their order and others complained about food issues... REALLY?!? WOULDNT THAT BE A BIG GIGANTIC SIGN THAT SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED??? I work with a large group of folks at my job & my wife in healthcare....we will be letting others know this place needs to "work out the kinks" before people will want to eat at this place for the price and quality of its food. If the quality of the food was done with as much care, preparation and panache as the building that they built [awesome building]....this place would be packed from floor to ceiling every night of the week with more orders than they can handle, but I think they started off on the wrong foot and they need to correct it fast. You didn't cut corners on the building… don't cut corners on the food or the customer service... or you will need to call Gordon Ramsey to save your business and building before it even gets...
Read moreTook my Fiance's daughter here for her birthday to eat dinner on 9/02/20. This Green Olive leaves nothing to be desired. Rating it a one star is actually being conservative. Absolutely terrible and is nothing compared to its Hopewell twin. Firstly, the bust man comes to our seat as soon as we received our drinks and asked us were we done with our table, and was about to proceed to clean the table. We had to tell him that we had just been seated and were waiting on our server at which he gave us a dumbfounded look as if we had been there for over an hour. Drinks/refills never had enough ice to sustain its coldness, so after 10 mins of it sitting the drinks were of heavy condensation with lukewarm temperature. Then the appetizers arrived. I ordered scallops and my fiance ordered her and her daughter the fried calamari. The scallops were fine, however I looked over at my fiance's face of disappointment along with her daughter. She asked me to taste a calamari to see if her taste buds were off. As I began to chew, I immediately recognized why my fiance was disappointed. The calamari had the consistency of Wrigley's Bubble Gum. After eating one....ONE! My finace and I could not bring ourselves to eat anymore of it. We just decided to skip pleasantries and wait for our meals. The horror show began once the main dishes arrived. I requested extra chicken in my Santa Fe salad which I did not receive. The chicken was supposed to be season grilled, but instead tasted like it was boiled in water. The proportions were off too. I had a big dish of salad that went along with a small plastic covered cup of dressing smh. I mean yes we are in the continuity of a pandemic and supply is scarce, but if your proportions are going to be blatantly disproportionate then please advise that. My fiance's dinner was terrible. Her loaded mashed potatoes were supposed to be...well loaded. Instead she received mashed potatoes with melted liquid cheese? What the heck is that? Have they been to other local competitive restaurants that have loaded mashed/or baked potatoes like the one that's actually a bike ride up the road from them? It has Garden in their name too... ahem "Olive Garden." My step daughter on the other hand, as we looked over was peeling her Flintstones baked potatoe and coughed at how dry it was. Lastly, my finace and stepdaughter's meal came with ice cream. My finace through disappointment and frustration rescinded her ice cream, while my stepdaughter decided to take hers home. She requested chocolate ice cream, but the waiter chose to make it his choice and gave her orange sherbert instead. My fiance went to pay our check and explained this abysmal experience. The hostess began to write what my finace complained about while making the comment, "It looks like you had a McDonald's experience." Professionalism much? And very condescending I might add. No solution to rectify the experience whatsoever. I am appaled, as this was one of the worst restaurant experiences in a long time. Pandemic or not, this location needs to do better and have their service and quality meet their prices. There are too many other restaurants surrounding them to start out this bad. The next time anything that has the words Olives or Garden in it will be, "Olive Garden" or Hopewell's "Green Olive". Maybe in the future they'll get better, but as of now I would not recommend anyone here yet.....or if ever! Appalling is all that I can say with an honest...
Read moreThis place has become our family's favorite spot for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The atmosphere is amazing and always very clean. The staff is incredible. The food is always delicious and CORRECT. My order being correct and cooked well is a huge thing for me. I often have bad luck at most places we go - if someones order at the table will be overcooked, undercooked, or just made wronge...it will be mine lol. Very thankful that this has never once been the case here.
We have had two servers on different occasions that were incredible. We usually ask for Mindy when we go for breakfast but we went for dinner last night and didn't know if she was working. We were seated at Nick's table - we were not disappointed!
Mindy and Nick are not only attentive but just absolutely pleasant to speak to and interact with. Myself and my family truly appreciate great service and are thankful for how well both of these people have treated us when we visit here. They really seem to care about the experience their customers have and go above and beyond to make sure that you have a great meal and have everything you need. I cannot thank them enough for their dedication to ensuring that we are well taken care of when we visit. They are just really wonderful people.
Overall, the staff here is fantastic. Whoever is in charge of hiring is doing a great job! Last night a young lady who, I belive is only responsible for clearing and cleaning the tables and doesn't necessarily need to help customers, assisted my father. We were walking out and he stopped her and asked her for another bag for our left over containers (we didnt realize we needed one more). She didn't just hand my dad a bag and walk away...she opened it and held it open to make it easier for him to stack the boxes inside. It's the little things, small optional acts of kindness, that people choose to do that matter in my book.
As far as prices and food, I feel the pricing is fair for the quality and portions you receive. The food is amazing every time and the portions are large, however they do offer petite meals which is still a generous amount of food. I love having left overs so larger portions are okay with me!
I'd like to add‐ The first time I visited here for breakfast I ordered french toast and bacon and was pleasantly surprised that it came with WARM syrup. The bacon was probably the best bacon that I have ever had at a restaurant (crispy and very nice flavor). SO GOOD! The French toast was exactly what I was hoping for - big, fluffy, and prefectly cooked. I won't be going to IHop anymore.
So glad we decided to try this place out a...
