This was my first experience here, we wanted to try some new pizza. Found this place to have some great reviews so we gave it a shot. I am a big fan of online ordering so I was happy to see they had that. However, I tried to build my own pizza with this online system and I was very disappointed because it glitched on me. I was so confused that I actually ended up ordering build my own pizza on a buffalo chicken style, which was the wrong pizza completely. But it was my fault, so I dealt with it, unfortunately. Asked for thin crust and square cuts on all my pizzas. I assume I got thin crust, but boy was it thick for me. All pizzas cut square except for one and enough cheese to make another pizza with. The overall taste was not bad at all, crunchy crust, seasoned well and a generous amount of toppings, too much cheese for me. However, the toppings being on the bottom was different (not bad) but somewhat annoying. Because with most bites, the cheese would just slide right off due to it not being able to stick to the crust. So most pieces were cheese less or lopsided, but whatever. 7/10 Ordered Jo-Jos (potato wedges), nice and thick. But definitely can taste and feel the fry oil (grease) in it. None of us were a fan really. 5/10 Ordered bone in wings, bbq, but they called and said they had no bone in so we had to settle for boneless (but still charged me the bone in price) Didn't appreciate that. But they weren't bad, sauce was pretty good, some had too much breading, (that's why I ordered bone in) 7/10 In conclusion, I feel the pizza tasted well just wish there was a slightly less cheese and we actually got all the pizzas cut square. Also, make sure I double check the correct pizza order. Probably will never get the Jo-Jos or boneless wings again. But the sauce was good enough to try bone in wings. However, being charged for something I didn't get and the pizza not cut in square like I ordered, kinda irritating. I would try again for a second opinion but would not recommend them just yet. So with all that...
Read moreFor those of you that grew up in or watched enough animated motion pictures in the 90's: LISTEN. UP. Remember what pizza you kept drooling over while watching cartoons such as "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and "A Very Goofy Movie" back in the good ol' days??? Of course you do. Even now as an adult, you'll see it again and still yearn for what it could possibly be in real life. The sheer madness of it. The pie-cut slices dripping with cheese? It seemed unreal. It wasn't possible! No pizza could ever be found in real life just like it. Right?!?
Wrong.
I found it. It's real. It touches your soul in the way you had always imagined.
I never in my life thought I would ever experience the pizza of my childhood dreams. The two-dimensional melting wedge of gold that sat in front of your eyes and taunted your very conscious. That very same slice that would make your stomach rumble even after a full meal. Somehow, I knew what it already tasted like just looking at it but that never stopped me from wanting to eventually find it in real life.
Growing up in central Ohio, "square-cut" ruled the pizza world we knew. I never found the right consistency until I was LAST SUNDAY YEARS OLD!
The pizza that will have you saying Cawabunga and Gaworsh in no particular order nor controlled quantity awaits you. What's the only thing keeping you from ordering your first experience of animation-to-reality greatness?? This incredibly long and oddly specific review that makes numerous references to animated films.
My hat is off to you Gionino's Pizzeria. Not only did you make a great product for me and my family to enjoy, but you answered one of the oldest questions in my own personal history...
Read moreMy family grew up in the suburbs of Youngstown Ohio. Having lived in northern Columbus suburbs since 2013, we have been in search for familiar northeastern Ohio pizza. no offense, Columbus, but we have never grown to be fans of your paper thin crust cracker pizza. Youngstown is on route 80, in between New York and Chicago. And Youngstown/Akram/Cleveland pizza is a cross between New York and Chicago pizza. Finally after living here for nearly 7 years, my wife received a recommendation to try Geo Nino‘s pizza in Pickerington. So we made the drive south to give it a go. We ordered white pizza, Italian fried chicken, and JoJo potatoes. From the moment the food came out in sturdy cardboard boxes, we knew this would be a winner. From the first bite of the white pizza, a classic northeastern Ohio recipe with banana peppers and garlic sauce, we knew we had found our pizza home in central Ohio. The Italian fried chicken reminds me of The Greek-Italian fried chicken of my youth in Youngstown/Warren area. The JoJo potato fries also had that delicious Italian seasoning for a crispy coating on the outside. lastly, the food stayed piping hot the entire time we were eating it because of good strong materials and because of the way they packaged the fried chicken with the potatoes on top. Thank you for an experience that reminds us of our northeastern Ohio Youngstown, Akron,...
