This is the most disgraceful restaurant I have ever been to. I work in the restaurant industry and have never seen this or done this. Went in to eat tonight and a guest had a dog sitting at the table with them eating off the table and drinking from their glass. When we brought this up to the waitress she told us there was nothing she could do. If it was up to her she would change a lot of stuff there. When we went to the owner to tell her about it she told us she is in a bad position and can't do anything. I then told her a service dog does not eat at a table it stays on the floor. Her staff then decides they are going to join in and talk mad stuff about it being a service dog. In order for it to be a service dog it has to have a service harness and a handle or lease. And it is a violation of the Virginia health code for an animal to be in a food service environment sitting at a table eating off the table. The staff needs a lot more training on customer service and when to keep their mouths shut when they do not know what they are talking about. If you want to eat off of tables that animals have been eating on and drinking out of glasses that animals have been drinking out of. Then visit this...
Read moreI love this place, it’s a throwback to the 80’s! They are extremely consistent in their food quality, it’s a local family owned business, waitstaff are experienced adults, and I get value for my money.
Everything and everyone in the establishment is “Old school” and dated and that’s OK w/ me. I want to sit down, have a solid meal, friendly dining experience, and get some value for my dollar. There are plenty of newer, modern and fancier places around, this is NOT one of those places. Gus & George’s is what those of us in our 40’s, 50’s and 60’s + remember fondly and get a craving for. Dishes are standard classics, presented simply, served on full platters and presented consistently w/ ingredients the staff are experts at preparing.
I’m a fan of the Romanian steak, I know to slice it across the grain to enjoy the tenderness, it’s an old dish I can only get in my own kitchen nowadays or when I visit this classic restaurant.
Gus & George’s manage to keep prices fair and portions large in today’s economy and in my opinion prepare homestyle shoe string French Fries...
Read moreLove this place. I have eaten here with family since I was young and even used to work here off and on for 5 years. The family that owns it is wonderful and almost all of the food is fresh and homemade. Deffinatley worth the price for the portion sizes you get. Amazing place to get a steak. They recently did some interior upgrades too. Highly recommend you wont be disappointed. Things i recommend: Romanian steak, Delmonico steak, chicken teriyaki, eggplant Parmesan ( literally the best eggplant parm ive had anywhere) those shoestring FRIES!, grilled chicken salad or chicken kabobs, fried flounder, baked spaghetti with meatballs and extra sauce. hamburger steak with cheese mushrooms onions and gravy & Liver and onions with bacon! the ranch and house dressing for salads is the best they have some great feta cheese ( you can get a side of it which is 3 slices!) they alternate their dessert but they have authentic made baklava, and the chocolate mousee cheesecake is my favorite along with any of the meringue pies. they have beer...
