Took my mother (77 years old with Alzheimer’s) and my niece (who has Down syndrome) out for a late lunch today. Teresa was busy talking to her co-workers so it took a while if standing and waiting just to get a table in an almost empty restaurant. Only one other table was occupied.
No water was brought despite it being about 100 degrees today and it took a while to get her back to the table to even take a drink order. Again a wait time for drinks that I would expect in a busy place but not an empty one.
I placed the order and Teresa asked me to repeat myself twice. No special orders. No speech issues. Chicken finger plate, steak and cheese plate, shrimp plate. If the 3 items were too hard to remember , a pad and pen would be helpful. Old school but efficient.
She just seemed annoyed in general. We let it pass. Bad day perhaps.
When my nieces food came I noticed that the order was short. A 5 piece chicken finger meal should have 5 pieces. My niece has downs syndrome but she can count too. I told her not to worry and I’d mention it. Which I did. I let Teresa know that the plate was missing one.
She seemed to want to argue the point and say it was a 4 piece meal despite the menu saying 5. So I told her that the menu led us to expect 5. It was as if me saying so was some personal affront to her. A simple “oops, we can fix that “ would have been fine. But no.
She proceeded to walk to the kitchen door behind me and complain to someone in the back about me. I am sure I was meant to hear every word.
I kept my cool despite her continued and now seemingly intentional unprofessionalism.
She never came back to the table to check on anything. We weren’t offered refills, or even napkins which k had to search out myself. She stayed away until the check came. In silence. Placed on the table without a word or a concern if we wanted anything else.
I paid the check. And left her a note explaining how I felt on that check and left. I also left my phone that I was using to record my mom and niece for family members to share in our time out.
Teresa was so good as to talk negatively about me to coworkers multiple times and laugh about my phone being on the table - until she realized it was recording her …
Ihop should hire people who have basic manners and some understanding of the bare minimum in kindness.
I don’t know how many breakfasts I have left with my mom but I do know this one is one that was wasted. She may forget things but she knows awkwardness and rude behavior when she sees it and it stresses her out.
Thanks Teresa for learning nothing and showing who you really are on video.
And you’re right Teresa. . God doesn’t like ugly. He doesn’t like...
Read moreBy far not the best visit to an IHOP. Not sure how it could get this bad but... BTW, Sorry for the short novel but I needed to explain things. First off, it was kind of busy and we waited for 20 min before being seated. That didn't bother me. After being seated, it took another 10 min for the waitress to even acknowledge we were seated. That was pretty annoying. After 10 minutes waiting for our coffee to even arrive, another couple were seated near and the other waitress got took their order and got them coffee right away. Getting more annoying by the minute as another 8 minutes after they were enjoying coffee I was finally able to flag our server down and ask if we could at least get our drinks. 8 more minutes passed before coffee and drinks showed up. Almost a half hour to get coffee after waiting 30 minutes before having a server show up. As if it weren't bad enough already, it took another 10 minutes after that before our food would finally showed up. I ordered the Spicy Pablano breakfast burrito and my wife ordered the Split Decision and we added a take out order of their Bacon Cheeseburger and fries for my brother at home. My order is supposed to come with serrano peppers, avocado, spicy Pablano sauce, scrambled eggs, cheese and spicy shredded beef, salsa and no hash browns in the middle as I didn't want them. It came without serrano peppers, no avocado, no spicy Pablano sauce and no salsa. BLAND AS HELL! Wifes food came out perfect and she was chowing down. After another 10 minutes I was finally able to flag our server down, explain what was wrong and she called over the manager. He saw right away they gave me the wrong order. They said they will expedite my order again. After 13 more minutes, the server brought my plate out. It was the exact same thing as what they originally brought out. I told her that and pointed out what it was missing on a menu and she spouted off loudly that they are out of avocado. Ok, so where's the rest of the stuff. She said she'll go get the manager. After 10 more minutes passed, my wife is almost done now, I saw the manager and agged him down and told him about my food. He apologized and said he'll go back to the kitchen and ensure my food I ordered is cooked and delivered. Annoyed as hell, I just told him to forget my order and remove it off my bill, get me our to go order and the check. He came back 5 minutes later and told us he put the order in for the to go order and comped us for that one too. The server never put the to go order in. 15 minutes later the to go order showed up.
Sorry for the book version but I will never go back to this IHOP again. 2+ hours wasted on my busy Saturday and...
Read moreI'm sorry...I've been refraining from giving a review for a while, but when placing an order over an HOUR in advance, ignoring the 15 min prep time and arrive at least 20 minutes later than when they said the food would be done online, and you are STILL WAITING an additional 20-30+ minutes (today was over 45 mins past the time the food was supposed to be ready) in the lobby, something has to give. The food is late like this roughly 50-50 --- that's just inexcusable and today may be my last visit to the branch on VA BCH BLVD. I've gotten used to picking up my food 30 mins after placing an order instead of the 15 mins the online app claims the food will be done because I don't realistically expect the food to be done that fast, but when you consistently go 30+ mins after placing an order and you are still waiting in the lobby for an additional 15-30+ minutes, that's a problem. It defeats the purpose of placing an order online. I held off on making a review because I wanted to weigh how consistently late the food is (or items missing from orders, such as added avocado or syrup for waffle orders, etc.) and it takes a LOT for me to weigh something negatively, as you can tell from my other reviews. This is just too much.
It's a pity, because the staff is (usually) nice. The worst part about today, which was the tipping point, is that there was literally only one couple in the entire dining area, already eating. Me and two other people were waiting in the lobby for food that had been ordered in advance. WHY????? Please get better about the orders --- especially in regards to morning orders. Most people ordering to-go and pickup in the morning are already on a time crunch --- do they need to order two hours in advance when the building is...
