Now I've given this place multiple opportunities to do right by me (for starters). I've additionally spent no less than $37.00 per order I've placed. I'm going to get straight to the point. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE! No hate in my heart nor animosity towards the business nor its employee's. I am Caribbean from NYC and this place is a disappointing, OVERPRICED, excuse to sell you authenticity. Customer service though direct and concise comes off as more of a burden or waste of whoever's behind the counters time. DO NOT ORDER OXTAIL of any variant on the menu. They sell you on the "IDEA" of oxtail with your meal not the "ACTUALITY" of it being present in your order (utter disappointment). Which burdens the question what am I even paying for? Take a look for yourself. What makes matters worse is 1 of the 2 oxtail wasn't even the least bit tender. Almost as if they mixed old with new(wouldn't suprise me if that was the case)? I know for a fact I will no longer invest in nor support this establishment any further. This is FAR from QUALITY OVER QUANTITY! I don't mind wasting the 60 bucks for this evening's meal; if in hindsight being accompanied by this review allows others to avoid making the same mistakes as I. The surplus of rice and veggies they give is delicious don't get me wrong. But I'm not paying around 20 bucks a plate for predominantly rice and veggies. Below is the Oxtail driven main combo which seems to be predominantly chicken and everything but...
Read moreThis is a fair review of the place: If you are looking for hefty portions of great tasting Jamaican food this is the spot. The jerk chicken was well seasoned. The stew chicken was really tasty. They serve the food hot and fresh. They have lots of delicious cabbage. I like the way they slice their carrots-large slices. The meat on the chicken was nicely tender and fell of the bone-yes there are bones-it's meat. The plain roti which I ate by itself was fair-microwave heating might have dried it out a little, but I thought it was descent. I have not tried the dal-puri (roti with peas). Now I want to comment on the things besides the food -the foo, I felt was super good. I am reading others' comments about customer service issues. I've been to many restaurants in which customer service was amazing but their food is lacking and I've been to resturants where there food is amazing and their customer service not that good. I like the Irie Caribbean because their food is good/excellent, I'm not going to ruffle over cs because that's not as important. If I could change anything would be this: Bring food out to dinning in customers The only difference they do if it's dinning in or takeout is put a tray under the food for dine in. Please ask how many utensils you need-didn't feel like standing in line again for a fork. We did dine-in. Otherwise, I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I would...
Read moreYes! My mother and I were doing laundry nearby, and we were just checking out a few places in the shopping center. So as soon as we walked in, the young lady was really nice, we asked for menu's and she was so kind, gave me two. She asked were we new to the area, and my mother and her were speaking about that, so she asked if we could try a new recipe that she makes.we said yes, she came out and brought us both a piece of chicken to try along with a napkin, we really loved it. So she was asking us questions to get a feel for what we like, and we told her, she brought us both a container with a piece of curry chicken, oxtail, and some rice and beans! It was soo good! I mean delicious, I got full off of the examples she was willing to offer us lol. She gave us utensils and offered us water, they are all very kind and nice! The food is off the charts and it seems to me the workers there especially the young lady that we were speaking too, really takes her cooking to heart. She's really into the business and making her food. I won't be surprised some time down the line she doesn't own her restaurant. I encourage people to really check this place out! You won't be...
