WOW!!! Is all I can say , who knew that this hidden gem was so good!! I feel like I've been missing out. I've always seen stores over to the side when I'd be stopped at the red light but never really gave a chance to go in the parking lot until one day my friend and myself both had a taste for carribean food and didn't feel like driving to far google locked in on this location 1st and that's where I went my 1st time going the food was delicious the customer service was beyond exceptional I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door which is a big plus with me considering I work in customer service as well. I opted to get in a span of a couple days back to back this location and tried different dishes they have 1st day I tried the jerk chicken with rice and peas with cabbage everything was moist and very flavorful you can tell they take pride in they food and to actually give out generous amounts for what you pay for is an even bigger plus!!! BBQ tropical chicken I got more than enough on my 2nd visit and my friend got the large oxtail it was so many oxtail couldn't even finish the whole plate!! If you're in the area or just from the area and didn't know this place was so close I definitely would recommend giving it a try!! Also try a piece of the carrot cake when I say homemade vibes you'll have to taste is to see what I'm...
Read moreI was passing thru. I'm always up for some good carribrean food. I walked in and a guy was sweeping or moping, he didn't speak. I kept walking to the counter, i saw a guy standing back there, maybe about 25-27 years old. I didn't get much of a greeting from him either. I ordered my usual, stew chicken, also cabbage & mac & cheese. I noticed the food is in pots or something. I found the prices kind of high, the container barely felt heavy. The food was not as flavorful as i would have liked. The cabbage is cut in thick pieces, don't care for that & bland. I don't know what to say about the mac & cheese, tasted bland. I'd love to know what type of cheese that is used. The chicken was ok. I might give them another try when I'm in that area, but will not order...
Read moreI stopped by Island Jamaica and ordered the Oxtail Plate with cabbage and macaroni. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t a good experience for me. The cabbage was bland with little to no seasoning, and the macaroni had a different kind of zesty, sour cheese taste that I didn’t care for at all. The oxtails were tender, but the flavor wasn’t great either.
For $20+ (with no drink included), I really expected better. I had wanted rice instead of cabbage, but it wasn’t ready when they opened—same with another item I asked about. The setup inside wasn’t very presentable (though not terrible), and the atmosphere wasn’t the best. On the positive side, the customer service was decent.
I love Jamaican food, but sadly this isn’t a place I’d go back to...
