This is 70% about cars and coffee but the breakfast and coffee is pretty good too. From 6-9am on Saturdays, Katie’s hosts one of, if not the best and longest running cars and coffee in the area. Yes it gets SUPER packed in the warmer months but they have adjusted best they can by having a quick order coffee and pastry table outside as the line inside to order from the full menu can run out the door by 730/8am on Saturdays. Obviously parking can be tight but you can almost always find a space around the perimeter or in adjacent lots that permit it. Just to give you an idea of how storied this cars and coffee is, Toyota of North America brought out the new Supra when it came out and Volkswagen of North America brought a Bugatti Chiron. Did I mention the nice drive up to Katie’s? The roads in Great Falls are super windy and scenic and pass by some serious mansions and horse stables. Do yourself a favor and get up early one Saturday and try to make it by 730am because some of the nicer classics and supercars will start leaving by 8 for club drives...
Read moreLove Katie's. If I may make a suggestion (a plea, really), for those who are attending "Cars and Coffee", please be more considerate of the residents who live along the route of travel you use. Saturday mornings are, for those who live along the surrounding roads, similar to standing at the fence watching the Daytona 500. I appreciate that you love your cars and that they are fast and fun, but to be a resident in the home you go roaring past is not such a good thing. Please slow it down and be aware of how loud your vehicle is as your go flying up the road. You'll still get there, and in one piece, without a complimentary invitation from the County Police to join them in court, and your friends will never know the difference. It's all about fun, but it's also about respecting other people. My 88-year old mother will appreciate the quiet morning very much. Thank you....
Read moreFor the life of me, I can never understand why Potomac (MD) and Great Falls (VA) are directly across from one another but do not have access across the river as if though by deliberate design. So much for neighbourly hospitality. Katie's is not your expected type of coffee house, its a sort of a hybrid : Restaurant / coffee house named after the owners daughter, who is not yet old enough to actually serve you. Why the 3 stars ? Again, not really a coffee coffee house - sort of a hybrid - here is a restaurant and here is a coffee side - lets call it a coffee house. I find it a curiosity why inside Katie's you smell more of the food than any coffee, and outside on the patio you smell more of the remains of dogs who have eaten food. It does not make for a pleasant coffee drinking atmosphere. That...
