Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Virginia

For some reason, I can only post 1 of the 10 photos I took. I give 1 star for the fruits and vegetables in my smoothie which looked delicious! But- this place is disgusting and has terrible customer service. The floor is sticky and the place smells rancid- like a sour bleach mop was used- too many times. The women’s restroom door has to be yanked closed and I had to use my shoulder to get the door open Bc it is warped and jams. There was no hand soap, toilet tissue or paper towels and there was old dry urine drops on the toilet and wet drops on the floor far away from the sink by the toilet. The toilet was gross and there was brown splatter on the wall. The trash can was even disgusting on the outside! The door was also disgusting. It smelled like a backed up sewer. When I ordered, the older woman who helped me was dismissive and said “ok, ok, ok what you order?” when I let her know the bathroom had no soap, toilet tissue or towels. When I asked her if the pea protein had gluten, she said she didn’t know- when i asked if any of the additives had Gluten- same thing “I don’t know.”. Then I asked if anyone working here knew and she said “no, what you order?”. Rude, and dismissive. Gross and a really terrible first experience at a Tropical Smoothie cafe. If this place is any indication of their quality - I won’t visit others. I ordered my smoothie bc I could see them prepare it- but after pinning this review- I’m going to trash it- I can’t bring myself to drink it knowing the place is gross. $10 down the drain. I’m going to attach some photos to this review. And to the owner- If you properly clean, sanitize and repair the place and train staff, I’ll be happy to return and give you another try and edit this review to reflect improvements. Overall-...

I’m always happy with my experience at this tropical smoothie! My food is always piping hot and the smoothies are delicious. I love this one especially for one reason, and that reason is because they still know how to make a chicken cordon bleu wrap!!! I wish it would just stay on the menu at ALL tropical smoothies, but I’m so happy that they will accommodate making me one still. It’s my absolute favorite wrap, and there’s no other wrap I get because it’s that good. The first time was super easy, I asked for it and I received it immediately. The second time I went in it was a different girl there, maybe she was newer but she was very nice. I asked her about the wrap to make sure I could still have it made and she said oh I’m not sure. I told her the last time I came in (which was less than a few months earlier) they made it for me and I believe it was even one of the owners if not the owner said they could make it for me. So the girl went and asked the same lady I had talked to during my first visit and she told the girl they could make it and what they had to use in order to. So they said they’d price it as a buffalo chicken wrap, and just use the ingredients they would need to use to make a chicken cordon bleu wrap and they did!! They are amazing and they accommodate! I had a flat tire on my way to pick up an order from here. I tried calling to inform the staff about the situation, but unfortunately, I couldn't get through. Three hours later, after getting the tire replaced, I finally arrived.

When I explained the delay and why my food had been sitting there for so long, the owner was initially defensive and mentioned it wasn’t their fault, which is totally fair. I was more than willing to accept the food as it was. However, once she realized I was being sincere, she kindly discarded the old food and made me a fresh order. This level of service speaks volumes about the integrity of the people who run this place.

As a side note, I overheard a customer complaining about her ranch dressing being added to the food while it was still being made, claiming the ranch inside the warm wrap was supposed to be cold... What? The whole complaint was over-the-top. Honestly, it’s people like that who test the patience of hardworking staff.
