I remember when this was like the only hibachi place in town and it was always packed! Has been quite a while since I've been here, but the kids and I were out tonight and they wanted some Japanese Hibachi. I think this place burned down years ago, but it looks really nice inside. Still a lot of space and tables. They have a hibachi side and then they also just have a sushi bar. My kids loved the display when you enter of all the things Japanese related and the Samurai Armor. They have a large Koi tank in the entry as well. They still require masks, even with the mandate gone and will check your temperature. Staff was very friendly and attentive. We had a fun chef, he joked with us quite a bit, hid skills may have been a little off, but he made up for it with his personality. Everything was cooked just right. My daughter and I got medium rare steak and my son got salmon. I got a few rolls of sushi as well. They tasted good, but I thought they were a little on the small size. Quality of everything seemed very good too. Once finished I asked the kids if they liked this place or the other Hibachi place better that we've been to the last few times and they both said Kabuto's. So this might become our go to Japanese Steak House again.

I took my 9 year old Granddaughter to dinner, just the 2 of us. We didn't have to wait for a table. Our chef was very talented with his tricks, and he cooked our food just right. My Granddaughter had hibachi chicken with an added side of scallops. I had hibachi scallops. The prices were about the same as other Japanese Hibachi Restaurants I have been to, but we were given more pre entree dishes. We were given the clear broth with mushrooms and green onions in it, a salad with ginger dressing, 2 hibachi shrimp, and a helping of hibachi egg noodles. Our waitress refilled our drinks when they began to get low. Everyone was friendly and very helpful. My 9 year old Granddaughter said, "Grandma, I wish I could have him as my private chef"......talking about our cook of course. I would recommend Kabuto over any other local Japanese Hibachi Restaurants. I know I will be returning when I want Hibachi again. The only downfall for me is that an 18% gratuity is applied to everyone's bill. Of course our chef deserved that and more. If I had gotten one who did not, I would have been rather upset. Of course too, there was a spot to add extra gratuity.

Kabuto is a nice spot with great service, and the overall experience was enjoyable. The ambiance is pleasant, making it a good place for a night out with friends or family. Our chef really stood out – he was friendly, engaging, and made the meal entertaining with his cooking skills and interaction. The staff, in general, were attentive and made sure everything ran smoothly throughout the evening. That said, while the food was tasty and well-prepared, the portion sizes were a bit underwhelming for the price. It feels a bit on the expensive side given how much food you actually get. For the amount spent, we expected either larger servings or a little more variety on the plate. Though the experience was enjoyable, the price-to-portion ratio is something to consider. Because of that, I probably won’t be rushing back anytime soon, but I can definitely see myself returning in the future for another fun night out. If you're looking for a good teppanyaki experience with excellent service and don’t mind spending a bit more, Kabuto is worth a visit. Just be prepared that it may not feel like the best value for what you pay.

My family & I have been going to Kabuto for few years now for one of our close friends Birthday. We had a reservation for 730 with a party of 8. When we arrived we were informed that they were 20 min behind & we were ok with that. Half hour later the hostess apologized stating they're waiting on people to leave. Finally around 815 we're seated. The server (very sweet young lady) came in & took drink orders & then returned to get the food order. Two of us ordered extra veggies & our friend she ordered filet mignon. For our 3yr old we ordered him tenders & fries. The cook came out & started to prepare the meal & for the life of him he couldn't do a show for us bcuz he kept dropping the utensils as if he was nervous. The cook put 2 strips of steak on the grill & a handful of veggies (only onions, broccoli, & mushrooms). Remind you its 7 of us & two of us asked for extra veggies. So I proceed to get the server & ask her are we being charged for extra veggies & she stated yes. She seen there wasn't extra veggies being prepared so she leave & comes back with onion, broccoli, & carrots. Finally the food is done & when the tenders came out for my son they were so hard as if they been cooking since we placed the order. The server seen that they were brick hard so she apologized & asked did we want more. I started no bcuz my son was happy with his fries & by this time it's almost 10 & I was over it. My friend who ordered the filet mignon was given a steak that was tough & chewy. The server apologized for everything & a supervisor came & spoke to us & she stated that the manager would like to speak to me about the tenders. She kept insisting & begging me to come with her. So I asked where are we going & she stated "to the bar, come on, I'm sorry but take a shot with me". I stated no ma'am I don't drink & it's ok just take the tenders off my ticket & it's ok bcuz my son is happy with his fries. The lady kept begging for me to come see the manager & I told her no bcuz as a manager he should come to us. My husband & my friend went to go speak with the manager only to find him at the bar drunk. The poor lady that tried to rectify the problems (even though you could smell the alcohol on her) he got mad with her & pushed her & she cried. She fixed the ticket & before we left I reminded her that she don't allow no one to put their hands on her & I pray that she'll get out of that place. I see why our service sucked & that explains why we were there for over 2 hrs bcuz staff was too busy drinking. Worst experience in all our years of going & definitely our last time going there. The store manager couldn't come to us bcuz he was very intoxicated & kept expressing that he's gay & I have no idea what his sexuality have to do with anything!! I just pray this don't happen to anyone else bcuz it could of went totally left due to alcohol...

Our family went to Kabuto last night for Christmas dinner. They are able to seat 8 people per table so we sat across two tables as we had a large group. As is normal, children like to sit with the other children in their group so my 9 y/o sat with an 8 y/o cousin at the neighboring table. I made it clear upfront when we advised how checks would be split that my child was sitting at the neighboring table.

The server took a while to get to us which was fine because the tables weren’t all filled up but they did have about 5 other large groups to tend to, and we all know staffing is difficult these days especially on a holiday. However, drinks took forever to come once ordered, some were brought while others never were, refills were rare, and the soup had steam but was lukewarm and lacking flavor when you actually drank it.

Our chef was amazing but the one at the table with the rest of our family was not entertaining or personable whatsoever.

We got through dinner and found out that the waitress messed up checks so several of us were delayed in leaving because we had to try to get things corrected, and this is where things went majorly south.

We kept questioning a shrimp app that was on one of the tabs and finally the waitress clarified that it was ordered by my 9 y/o child who was sitting with a cousin at the neighboring table. I confirmed with my child and was clearly okay with paying but politely offered feedback to the waitress that in the future she may want to consider confirming with parents before putting additional orders through; I have been a server myself and would certainly have double checked with the parents as the app was in addition to the meal that already came with shrimp.

The waitress (Manuela) took offense and responded with “Many children are independent.”

I raise my child to be independent but what a 9 y/o is not independent enough to do is pay for a hibachi steak meal plus a shrimp app, especially when the hibachi meal comes with shrimp already.

The waitress began arguing with me over whether or not she should confirm such a thing with a parent, yet another staff member who was helping her correct the tabs politely told our waitress “This is why we train staff to double check orders with the parents.”

The waitress walked away and later returned, as I was waiting for my change from her colleague, and the waitress decided to make smug faces at me like a child. Absolutely immature and disgusting behavior by this employee.

I have never in my life had a service industry employee behave like that towards me to the point where I got as upset as I did.

The one star is being left for the chef and the other staff member who did her best to mediate a situation created by her unprofessional and rude colleague, but no other part of this restaurant experience deserves a...

Food was good, not the best I've had but I'm from NC and we have a lot more options.

BUT. The service from start to finish was the WORST I've EVER experienced in my life at any given restaurant.

We had a 7:30 reservation for 2. We checked in, they didn't give us a buzzer, 2 couples walk in behind us with the same reservation and were seated in front of us, I brought it to the hostesses attention, she did not apologize, but we were sat immediately.

Our server was awful. I don't know what kind of day he was having, could've been there all day, may have had a cold, but he was still getting paid so I still expect quality service. (I work in food and I tip well) he did not say you're welcome once to anytime anyone said thank you, actually the cook didn't either, and while he was taking my wife's order he sneezed INTO his hand and walked away. He was gone long enough to wash his hands so I hope that's what he did. When he returned he didn't apologize or verify her order but went on to the next person although she wasn't finished. After we were finishing up our meals I notice that even though I ordered the chicken and steak dinner I only received the steak. I wasn't upset but I didn't wanna be charged for both, my wife politely pointed it out to our server and he said he would "try" to get it fixed. He then disappears for easily 20 minutes. My pregnant wife goes to find him at the front with all of the bills printed and laying out open trying to decide which bill needs to be fixed. I point to our bill and it gets fixed in a matter of seconds, I have no idea what he had been doing the last 20 minutes. My wife looks at the check to find that they added an 18% gratuity to the bill and questions why it's there, when what she assumes is he manager jumps in to say "we add an 18% gratuity to parties of 6 or more" which my pregnant, now very annoyed wife responds with "we weren't a party of 6 or more so I don't understand why it's on there." The server says he can have it taken off and again is fixed within a matter of seconds. He walks away with the rest of the bills for our table, she says she stopped and talked to one of the other employees for a good 5 minutes before returning to the table. When she came back she realized that we were the only people with our bills and our server returns shortly...
