I'll start by saying I've had Korean BBQ experiences in actual Korea and was under no impression this would be the same or even similar experience. That being said, it still fell far short of what I expected for a restaurant charging up to $50+ dollars per person. When we first sat down and ordered our drinks and initial meal packages, everything was fine. Things started off smoothly and our first round of food was good. But the waitress seemed very frantic and rushed us for new orders and kept stopping by to ask to switch out our grill (at this point it had only been about 20 minutes into the meal and it struck me as super weird she was in such a rush to change out our grill when we didn't need it.) Eventually we let her and she came back with this grill top that wasn't at all like the initial wire grill top we had. It was completely metal with vents on the side. Whatever, right? But the food immediately started sticking and burning with this new grill top. We turned the temperature down which helped a little, but one of the other employees came by and, without a word, turned the temperature back up. Surprise -- the food started burning and sticking again. We got extremely frustrated and had to have the grill top switched two more times because the meat was burning before it could cook and in many spots the char was blocking the food from cooking at all. We asked to have our grill top switched back and the waitress said it was "against policy to switch it back once she had changed it." We were supposed to have two hours to enjoy our food but in less than 45 minutes the whole meal had gone to hell. We decided to call it quits early and finish the food we had ordered. I had about 1/4 bowl of rice left and there were several other empty plates on the edge of the table waiting to be bussed. One of the employees came by, grabbed my rice bowl (which still had food in it) and chucked it in the dish bin. They left the other few empty dishes on the table and walked off. After that we quickly finished our food to avoid the "price per leftover plate" penalty and left extremely disappointed with the poor service we experienced. We will absolutely not be back and will actively discourage others from wasting their time and money on a place that clearly is designed to rush customers through a meal and get them out the door before they can enjoy what...
Read moreThe reason Iâm giving this a 3 stars is bcuz the place still has potential.
To start off; we were just a party of 2 on the premium B dinner AYCE menu. NOTE: the first 4 meats on the premium B requires a different wire grill. So itâs recommended to do them at the same time since the server would need to change the grill back to the flat top. I didnât like this; just seems more inconvenient for server and customer, plus it takes longer. The premium meats were also not great⌠having a WAYGU icon next to the meat sets the expectation too high. We noticed how very little marbling it has and I thought it was ok, no melt in your mouth and we cooked it to medium rare. The best out of the four was the bone in galbi.
Next the banchans, which will either make or break the score for KBBQ. The only banchans we enjoyed were the corn cheese, kimchi, and the pickled radish (aside from the string cut texture). I will be listing other banchans with what we felt led the score to be low.
Green onion salad: dressing was not fitting. It was a white sauce which was bland. House salad: spring mix with same dressing as green onion. Thin radish strip: tasted like the radish was not done fermenting. Japchae: adente and unseasoned. Soondubu (tofu soup): too oily and bland Bibimbap: just the banchans added in here, not even a fried eggâŚ
The service was good and the vibe is there, this place could succeed if the quality in the certain things were better. But personally I think it wasnât worth the price. I will give it a second chance maybe in a...
Read moreThis location is definitely still a work in progress. However, we were happy to see a KBBQ location that wasn't in Oceanside or towards San Marcos.
Prices here are a little higher than their competitors (total was $101 with tip for two people), but I think the service makes up for it. They were super attentive and answered all of our questions. They also recommended some items, and it worked pretty well.
The food was good, but the meats and marinades could be better. There are not a lot of seafood options if you're into that. They were also out of a lot of their soju flavors and some sides.
My biggest gripe? The stainless steel. It makes everything easier to clean, but when the sun goes down and it hits your table, it gets HOT in there. The reflections are also bouncing off the steel and into your eyes lol Recommend going before or after sunset. I think they should invest in some type of window shades, that would help the tables facing west.
4 out of 5, but we still have one more local KBBQ to try out, and that'll determine if this becomes the...
