When you walk into Our Breakfast Place, itâs welcoming in a familiar kind of way. The kind of place where the coffee is hot, the dĂ©cor hasnât changed in years, and they greet you before you find your seat.
Service starts strong. A server swings by quick to take your drink order, and soon after, a full pot of coffee lands on your tableâno need to wait for refills. But thatâs where the attention starts to slip.
I ordered the Avocado Mash on Toast with a side of Ranch Potatoesâa clean, lighter choice. The server asked about eggs, and I assumed she meant as an add-on, not that eggs were included in the meal. So when the plate came out eggless, I realized there had been a communication breakdown. No big deal. Except she dropped off the food, said nothing, and disappeared. No âCan I get you anything else?â No âEnjoy your meal.â No check-in mid-bite to ask if itâs all right. I didnât see her again until she dropped the check at the end and asked, âWas everything okay?â At that point, itâs too late to fix anything.
Letâs talk food. The avocado mash was a highlightâgenerously portioned, chunky, creamy, drizzled with good olive oil and perked up by a wedge of lemon that brought real brightness. It was clean, simple, and satisfying.
The potatoes, though? A miss. The cuts were all over the placeâsome thick and soft, others thin and burned, and more than a few half-raw. They lacked seasoning, tasted starchy, and had that unfortunate undercooked interior with an overcooked shell. The uneven chop made them cook unevenly, and it showed. I left most of them on the plate.
As for the coffee, the pot-at-the-table model works in theory. Itâs efficient, especially during busy breakfast rushes. But it also underlines the lack of attentive serviceâyou pour your own, refill your own, and if you need anything, youâre on your own.
And then comes the checkout bottleneck. They drop your check at the table, but you have to pay up frontâright where the people waiting to be seated are also huddled. It creates a logjam of folks trying to leave and enter in the same square of tile. One lady in front of me had to dig through her bag, pack up a to-go order, swap bills for change, leave a tipâit took five minutes. And it wasnât her fault. Itâs just a system stuck in time. With todayâs tech, thereâs no reason they couldnât cash you out at the table and keep things moving.
Atmosphere? Comfortable. Familiar. But not particularly memorable. Service? Inconsistent. Started warm, ended cold. Food? Half hit, half miss.
Generously, Iâm giving it four stars. But next time, Iâll ask if the eggs are includedâand Iâll hope the potatoes get a...

I went there & explained how I just had surgery 2.5 days before & I wanted an Eggs Benedict breakfast for my Mother's Day, but I didn't want to eat in due to the icky drain tubes sticking out of me and I was in pain. Mariana made it happen! đ€ Thanks! Mariana đș & Blessings to the Chef, owner, & all the staff! â€ïž This is THE BEST Breakfast Place that made my Mother's Day special!
6.12.21 Update: our Breakfast Place redeemed themselves with me today. âș I arrived at 2:07 & was seated w/ no waiting. My order of Parisian [Eggs] Bennedict was served promptly & was DELICIOUS! đ 5 STAR service from Marie who was quick & courteous.
6.6.21 Update: I waited until they weren't so busy by watching the update online & arrived about 15 minutes before their listed closing time today. 3 very young girls at register inside looked at me like I was stupid when I walked in and then they told me that they were already closed, before their posted closing time!?! They should accept customers to be served if they have time posted as they're open, or stay open a little longer on weekends! đ€š I was Hangry today! So my previous 5 stars rating is now 1. (It would be great if they had crepes also! But I have to keep going to IHOP for my crepes fix. They're only [french] pancakes. đ)
11.2020: My food was cooked as I asked since I have food allergies. I ate the bacon, ham, egg & cheese skillet ( no potatoes or muffin). The hollandaise sauce made this meal awesome! I had at least 3 waitresses take my order, serve me my food, & double check they...
Read moreI really wanted to love this place. The reviews were great but my experience would never allow me to recommend this place. I came in with my daughter for a late brunch around 1:50 PM, not realizing they closed at 2. While I completely understand we were cutting it close, the way we were treated made us feel very unwelcome.
From the moment we walked in, no one greeted us with a smile or any warmth. The energy just felt off. While we were quietly enjoying our food â and for once, my daughter was actually eating, which is rare â I started noticing a short Hispanic older woman (could have been a manager or supervisor) yelling at staff about small things in front of customers. It was uncomfortable and unprofessional.
Before we could finish, she approached me and asked if I wanted a bag, making it very clear by verbalizing that they were waiting on us to leave. â We are waiting for you to leave because we close at 2â. I was so shocked how rude that comment was that I had no comment.. This felt rushed and aggressive, especially when all we wanted was to enjoy our meal and some quality time together.
The food was okay, but the experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Hospitality matters â especially in the service industry. A little kindness would have gone a long way. Especially because this is our first...
