Second time dining at The Coal House. It's 40 minute drive for me and after today, I won't be back nor can I recommend it on my Pizzeria community group sites.
Waited about 1 hour(seated a few minutes past 6PM, pizza came out 7:08PM) for a Vodka pizza pie in a place that specializes is Pizza. Preparing and turning out a pizza pie in a coal or wood fired oven should take less than 6 minutes per order. I dont care how many people are dining in or taking out. To make your customers wait an hour for a pizza is just insane.
On top of it, they dont have a liquor license and their non alcoholic beverages are lackiing to say the least so I was stuck drinking water. Never once did the manager / owner whatever he is come over to check on us after sitting there with only glasses of water in front of us. No class at all. As long as I waited, it should have been half price if not free.
Now for the quality and taste. It did go down a bit from my first visit. The vodka sauce was watery and the cheese was extremely full of oil. The crustl did not have that crisp we all love. Instead the majority of the crust was soggy.
If your local, then great maybe this meets your needs but it is not any better than any 4.0 or above rated Pizzeria. There are few others in this immediate area that I won't mention by name that are better and can handle their customer volume on a...
Read moreThe Coal House never disappoints!! My husband and I live down the street and in all honesty it took us way too long to try this place out. We first stopped in a few weeks ago and what a hidden gem!! Tonight we wanted a tasty, light, yet filling dinner, we agreed Coal House was the spot. We walked in the door and immediately knew we were exactly where we wanted to be, the ambiance, the aroma, the great prices and again delicious food!! Oh did I mention it’s a BYOB even better for date night! Our first visit the owner, Anthony-great guy, friendly, hospitable-, treated us to dessert and the personally chosen cannoli was great but the cappuccino was, for me, so enjoyable (not all espresso is made equal). I’ve been in the restaurant business over 20 years, I can vouch, the service is great, friendly, attentive but not hovering. The restaurant is clean, they pay attention to detail…also the pizza gets served with the hot oil, honey and balsamic drizzle on the side (what?! Wow!), it’s the little things that count, but this restaurant is the whole package. Great, affordable, date night, family night, to go night!! Oh and did I mention that it’s a place where you can try something new every time and not be disappointed !! Can’t wait to go back- thanks everyone for a great night out, that didn’t...
Read moreUsed to come here, when it was under different management. I went there to get dinner (just two people) on a friday night. When a man approached the host station I was waiting at, he didn't even look at me and instead began to speak to the man behind me, when I started saying for two. He finally looked at me (the person in the front), then proceeded to speak to the man behind me.
When he decided to speak to me I asked for a table of two. He pointed to either join a family on the high tops or a small table in an awkward middle spot. I asked it was possible for a table of 4. He said no since it's friday night and peak hours, which I would understant if there was anyon there. It was 7:36 pm and 3/4 of the restaurant was empty. Not wanting to stay I said I think I'm going to go. Then he said why, and if I was mad and continued to state again why he could not possibility give up a table during peak hours (again no one was there). I wasn't mad, I just didn't want either option and I was already a bit thrown off when he didn't acknowledge my existence.
Very awkward encounter, would never think of going to...
