Buttercup — Restaurant in Walnut Creek

I had no idea there was a restaurant here. Literally have passed this place for 3 years. There isn’t a whole lot of recent reviews but it came up as a break place. Came in on a Saturday an was seated rather quick but I think we had just missed the rush cause as we were leaving it was busy and there was a decent amount of people waiting for seats.

1 star for exceptional staff 1 star for great prices an decent size portions. 1 star for atmosphere. 1 star for kids menu an kids stuff to color

Gives a old school diner feel. The eggs Benedict eggs were cooked to perfection an the biscuit was splendid, but an I say this with the utmost experience in eggs Benedict. Is lack luster. Literally no taste. It’s plain as plain can get. No lemon, no butter, no salt, no anything taste. The Canadian meat also tasted like the grill marks so much that it’s all you could taste. I didn’t finish my food.

The latte also for the price was rather sad. Plain, an tasteless.

The kids menu for the price an amount was more then enough to feed two kids.

Significant other ordered a scramble an said it was amazing but filled up on potato’s. So he didn’t finish his food cause he was so stuffed.

Will be returning to try another breakfast! An will update.

When I arrived the gentleman who seated me was quick and friendly. I sat and started looking at the menu and waited for my waiter to come over to introduce himself and offer me coffee or water...this never happened. Another customer was seated by the waiter...which was right in front of me...I hear him ask her did she want coffee etc., he takes her request and walks away. He comes back with her coffee.... At this point I had been sitting for over 10 minutes with no interaction from the waiter. He finally comes over and asked me did I want to order and did I want coffee, I place my order and my food comes pretty quickly. I ate my food which was Cajun eggs Benedict.. It was tasty... the waiter never came back to ask did I need anything, how was the food..nothing. I finish eating my food and I sat for about 15 minutes before the waiter came over to ask did I need more coffee, I say no just the check and a cup of ice.... He pulled the check out of his apron like he was ready for me to leave...At least now I know his name...Carlos you were not a good waiter to me however I watched you be an excellent waiter to the other customers who didn't share my melanin! And when I arrived it was not...

I recently gave Buttercup a try after noticing this particular establishment during nearby courtroom hearings. I chose the chicken and waffles based on the waitress's suggestion. The waitress was prompt in taking my order, and to my surprise, the food arrived swiftly. While the chicken and waffles were just okay, I'm inclined to return and explore more of the menu. I was interested in the French toast, the eggs Benedict and a few other options. The hot chocolate, was excessively sweet, and I loved it, suited my taste. However, despite the initial assurance, I never received the promised refill.

The spacious interior attracted a large crowd, mainly older Caucasians, and it was packed during lunch hours. There was indoor and outdoor seating.

Upon receiving the bill, I found it unclear that I needed to take it to the front to pay, suggesting a need for clearer instructions for future guests.

Despite this minor hiccup, the overall dining experience at Buttercup was decent, with prompt service and quick food delivery. I look forward to returning and exploring more of the menu on...
