This was such a great find. It wasn't so big that it had that commercial feel to it but not so small that we felt subjected to the crowded waiting areas and their stares and mumbling. We had the Pizza Salsiccia with a tomato based sauce, mushrooms, and sausage. The dough was great, slightly chewy and charred (not burned). I could've finished it myself but had to leave room for our other dishes. Next was the Ravioli, stuffed with mushrooms and cooked with browned butter and sage. It had a slight sweetness to it which was complimented with the saltiness of the sprinkling of Parmesan (or was it pecorino romano?). The butter gave it a rich and elegant flavor. Then we had the fettuccine bolognese (can't remember the name but it was tomatoey and meaty). Great combo and pasta was al Dente as it should be.
To top it off we had the cappuccino with a cannoli. They fill them fresh to order. My wife didn't quite like the spices they sprinkled at the exposed ends but I didn't mind. I ordered a half dozen to take home... I like cannolis! The filling was "filling" and refreshing and the shell crunchy as hoped for. The cappuccino was smooth yet strong just the way I like it.
Service was prompt...
Read moreWe believe that everyone and every place deserves a second chance. After a less than stellar experience at Montesacro Pinseria a few months ago, we decided to try again. We had the pleasure of being served by Ms. Cheng for both of our visits. She is delightful, unobtrusive, knowledgeable and very accommodating. High Five to Ms. Cheng! The restaurant is clean, well-maintained and allows adequate space for diners to enjoy private conversation. The food, however, leaves much to be desired. I initially asked about the risotto as listed on the menu. I was advised that they no longer serve risotto but haven't removed it from the menu. The menu describes the Insalata Mista as Arugula, Radicchio, Frisee, Cherries, Fennel, Pine Nuts, Balsamic Vinaigrette. It was served with Arugula, Radicchio and Frisse with vinaigrette. NO cherries, fennel or pine nuts. When I questioned this (and the $17.00 cost) I was offered a replacement salad. I declined and the cost was credited to our tab. Two cocktails, two glasses of wine (served by a delightful and engaging bar tender), one plate of Cacio e Pepe (which was good) and one Porchetta was about $125 (before tip). We...
Read moreMy wife had been dying to go to Montesacro for months. This is a highly desirable restaurant and therefore difficult to get weekend reservations. Thankfully it was more than worth the wait!
The service was absolutely amazing! Can’t say enough nice things. So professional and pleasant. A real delight.
We both ordered several cocktails. Espresso Martini’s and a Vodka Martini with a twist. Drinks came out quickly and perfectly made.
We ordered several food dishes. We got one of the pizzas. It does take a bit longer to come out but absolutely worth the wait. We ordered the Cacio e Pepe and the Amatricianna. Seemed to also be a popular order combo. We decided to share everything. The pasta was so fresh. Perfect amount of sauce. I was really impressed.
The bread basket came with olive oil to dip in. It was probably the best olive oil we have ever had. They said it was sourced from Italy and we probably wouldn’t find it around here.
Can’t recommend enough. We will absolutely be back. It was such a refreshing experience. Thank you to the entire staff for making it such a memorable night....
