Extremely disappointed. I used to occasionally go to the old Troy location which was great so I was curious to try this new spot— big mistake. About two weeks ago I ordered a lamb & chicken combo platter and they waited for me to come in to make my platter because they want customers to see it being made, thats fine. but when I asked for HALF a scoop of extra rice on my platter they DENIED to add it THREE times??— then they tell me that theyre going to have to charge me extra for it??? For RICE?? LOL. “No we cant do that, this is how we make it.” Okay. Whats the point of waiting for me to get there if you're going to tell me how to build a platter. And why are you trying to charge me extra for a half scoop of rice?? that alone tells you how stingy this place is.
At the Troy location, they actually encouraged you to customize your plate to make sure you left satisfied— and i always got it the same way. Here, it’s the complete opposite. The portions are noticeably smaller, and they nickel-and-dime you for everything. The lamb was fine, but the chicken was burnt. All that nickel-and-diming stinginess to serve me burnt chicken. Not sure who’s managing this place now, but they need to seriously rethink how some of their employees talk to their customers. And charging for a half scoop of rice after DENYING it to me three times is absolutely ridiculous. Half burnt food isn't worth that level of stinginess. First and last time at...
Read moreWanted to try out this place after hearing great things online, and after experiencing it in person I can say that those reviews are true. As a truck driver, the time for meals is very limited with the ongoing demands for the business, even more so for an Arab who’s limited by halal options nearby. However, I took the gamble to try it out and it worked to my favor with the staff providing recommended meals and having it ready within 5 minutes of an already limited time crunch for my break. The food was delicious, I tried their chicken platter and it had a good variety of rice, veggies, fries, and most of all chicken which is nice since many businesses tend to skimp on those protein portions. The flavor of the chicken was more akin to Indian food like a masala minus the sauces in place of their own signature NYC and white sauce. As for the sauce I would say it’s solid but nothing groundbreaking, since I’ve tasted this flavor similar to other businesses. Again that’s not a bad thing the sauce is good, but it feels like I had it before. Overall, the service to provide to me on short notice, paired with the nice staff and delicious food motivates me to come visit again and try their other...
Read moreAmazing food, I highly recommend the mixed or seafood platter! The portions are nice and the fries, rice and salad with the meat are all great. I personally enjoy the NYC, chipotle, white, and hot sauce.
For atmosphere, their interior is very clean and well lit with a trendy design and no music playing.
Service-wise things are great but an unfortunate situation lead to a less than enjoyable experience. Having gotten delivery many times, I figured I'd save money and go in for the first time to pickup the food instead. Unfortunately my pickup order was stolen/picked up by someone else minutes before I arrived. I had to make it clear that I didn't know who the person who picked the food up was and verify the order was mine multiple times in different ways, which was all very understandable to need to do but unpleasant having to explain that I just wanted my order over and over again which I finally got after an hour after my arrival. That being said, I don't think most people are going to have their orders stolen, and everyone else seemed to have an easy and clean experience ordering and picking up their food.
Overall, I'm definitely coming back, I just hope I don't have my order...
