I've been coming to Bo's to play pool for many, many years now...
Yeah they have a lot of tables and that's nice; but the service ranges from abysmal-pleasant, you never really know until you arrive...
I would say the one thing they have going for them service-wise; is their hosts, they have had the same couple of hosts for the past few years, and they do an excellent job in my experience.
I was here last Saturday around midnight, and while my server was pleasant, the bartender was being ridiculously loud, obnoxious and unprofessional. At one point she was yelling at the security guard, loud enough for all the tables in the pool hall to hear over the music. Very unpleasant energy coming from that individual, to the point where I didn't even want them to prepare me a drink so I switched to seltzers.
My biggest issue of that evening is that I paid credits on the TouchTunes app to listen to certain songs, (fast track and everything so extra credit$) , only for my song(and someone else's) to be skipped right away ! I messaged the owner on the website and have yet to hear a response; so now it's review/warn the public time 🤷♀️
So essentially it seems that if certain staff members aren't fans of the songs that you're paying to play, they'll skip, and I suspect they might even go as far as to block it, so it can never be played again in that establishment. I suspect this because when the songs were nexted that night, someone was shouting from the bar area "BLOCK IT!". Also, there were a ridiculous amount of songs blocked at that location on the touch tunes app, which is shameful because their jukebox is a commodity that they advertise on their website.
Before the establishment was even closed, the bartender shouted into the pool hall again, asking the 2 remaining servers if they wanted "Shifties" (a shift drink) , which hey, to each their own, but maybe the bartender could've waited until the establishment was actually closed, and all of the customers were gone to ask them; just goes on to show how unprofessional this bartender was behaving.
All in all .. Quantity isn't always better, this pool hall may have more tables, but the tables at snookers are far better maintained; and the atmosphere is way more professional. They're also open an hour later than Bo's so...
Read moreMy wife and I came to shoot some pool at 3pm on a Saturday. Plenty of customers playing pool and several customers at the bar. We waited at the front counter for an employee for about 10-15 min until having to go up to the bar and ask how to get a table. The bartender and the only other employee were in the middle of some gossip conversation and we were kind of given attitude that we interrupted them. Got our table and ordered some very weak drinks. We were surprised at how rowdy some of the other patrons were...random yelling and screaming from elderly drunk men on several other tables. Played for an hour or so went to check out and waited at the counter again for 10 min before having to go back up to the bar for someone to check us out. When being checked out our waitress makes a snarky comment about the measly $4 tip we left her on a $14 drink bill. One last thing... on the way to the men's room you could smell the cleaning products 30 feet from the door. Once in the men's room the smell was so strong your eyes water. Not sure why you need so much cleaning product...I thought I was going to lose...
Read moreI spent so much time here when it was Boston Billiards and it still feels familiar. A buddy came in from out of town and we went back for the first time in years. When we walked in, it looked familiar, we were greeted warmly and it was nice to see that they still carried cues and supplies. We got lucky and were able to get a table right away but it quickly filled up. Our servers were excellent, attentive but not hovering. The beer selection was good, prices were appropriate and the teriyaki wrap that I had was flavorful as were the sweet potato fries. The tables were the same, ours rolled pretty well. The felt was worn but played well and the balls were older but in good shape. For the price, GREAT time. Their evening prices are decent but their 5/hr afternoon price is killer for someone looking to practice. In short, go play pool. Whether you're good or not, people will give you pointers if you ask, you can find other people to play with, coming from an introvert it's a great...
