We had really been wanting to take a break from the norms we usually dine at weekly (Texas Roadhouse & Longhorn). So I made 7:45 pm reservation for 3( Myself, Wife, & 8 year old daughter) on Saturday 1/7/23. Arrived 30-40 mins ahead of schedule, but didn’t mind the wait as they were very busy(good sign the place is good). At 7:55 we were seated in a nice corner table, but no bread and butter nor silverware and small plates like the norms. To start, it took at least 15 minutes before asking if we needed bread and what we would like to drink. Not to mention, they sat us next to a table with 3 couples it appeared (men on one side of table ladies on the other🤔🤷) of which were very loud and obnoxious…the ladies voice and laugh (still echoing in my head) made me wish I had the Beats headphones my daughter had on! However, the corner table was nice and like I said 15 minutes of waiting we were asked about the bread & drink preference, but also, she has us order everything all at once appetizer(mozzarella wedges out of stock so corn cakes it is) and dinners w/salads. So bread coming with silverware, plates, etc. (I hoped), drinks and appetizers ordered along with the main courses. Next, comes bread, plates, drinks, & silverware, followed directly by salads. Nice! It’s shaping up, then the dinners arrive (mine missing a side dish) followed shortly by an appetizer🤷… Appetizer then dinner is pretty much the standard but maybe not at this restaurant! Anyways, 25 minutes later and we’ve eaten about 2/3 or so of the food when the waitress brings check and offers boxes (I’m literally eating my food so my wife answers yes please 1 box). She quickly brings the box and grabs the check. So literally, we waited longer for the reservation, to be seated, and to get drinks then we were given to eat our meal! I assumed the waitress was drunk or high, but my wife stated she was probably tired considering she was a little older and they were busy. One thing was for sure, our food was mediocre and the whole meal was a total letdown (we had heard so much good praise so maybe our expectations were somewhat higher than should have been) or I just expected more for the $110 we spent on 1 appetizer, 2 adult meals, 1 kids meal, & 3 Cokes and the tip! I always tip 20% or more..in this case it was an $84 check and an undeserving $20 tip. So in closing, I’ll say this; we probably should have stuck to our normal routine for a Saturday 8:00 pm evening and I sincerely hope that this bad experience was a culmination of things that could’ve went wrong, i.e. busier than normal, out of stock items, obnoxious guests, tired...
Read moreI am going to be completely honest. I did not like my experience at all. As soon as I walked in the door I smelled a musty odor in the building. (Honestly I wanted to leave as soon as I stepped foot inside because of the smell, but I knew my boyfriend wanted to eat here so I comprised) It took awhile to get seated and it wasn't busy at all - two people walked by and stated "someone will be right with you" yeah 10 minutes later... Okay, we finally got seated and light fixtures are extremely dull, and appeared dirty inside.. Oh look, a fly decided to land on my arm! They decided to set up a table of about 10 right next to us.. the baby girl was crying over the fly because she wasn afraid of it. I felt bad! Which it shouldn't have been in there at all to be landing on guests food.
My boyfriend and I shared an order of chips and spinach queso, it was alright, but the chips were stale. We asked a server for new chips and for the queso to be warmed back up because it was brought out at room temp. Our waitress brought them out and asked for us to try the chips again to see how they taste, they were still stale. She stated "well that's all we have until we make a new batch TOMORROW. Huh? New batches should be made throughout the day, or atleast properly store them, so you won't be serving stale chips. We still got charged for them stale chips and spinach queso.
His order was a 10 oz Ribeye, loaded baked potato, and a salad. He rated a 4 out of 5, but stated that it was no better than the chain restaurant "Longhorn steak house!"
I do not eat steak, so I had the glazed teriyaki chicken topped with pineapple relish, with rice and broccoli. Hmm, let's just say after a few bites, I decided I would give to the dog. I would rate about 2.5-3 stars based on food & price point for me. It definitely doesn't deserve to be a $20 meal, no more than $11.99.
Last but not least, my waitress (older lady) was very rude. She spoke about me infront of me to my boyfriend. I felt very disrespected - All because I asked for a special drink, A "strawberry Sprite." She said they don't do that, or any additional flavors unless it's cherry. She said the bar can't make my drink. In all of the restaurants I've been to, they ALL have made exceptions and made it happen, including having the bar make it!
I hope the foul musty odor gets situated, maybe a small renovation to repair what needs to be repaired to get rid of the smell. No offense.
Personally I wouldn't come back, but it's possible that my boyfriend would take...
Read moreHubby and I were there tonight, 26 Oct 2024, for our 33rd wedding anniversary and we had a great dinner!
Emma was our waitress and she was so personable, friendly and attentive to us! She was definitely a part of making the night special for us.
For the appetizer we had the deviled eggs w/bacon. We both love deviled eggs and since Hubby is doing keto, this was an appetizer we could both enjoy and he could stay mostly on-diet (Brown sugar bacon). You'll get 3 eggs, each cut in half, in a single order and they'll disappear FAST, lol! Oh, I almost forgot that Emma talked me into trying the Loaded Potato Soup. And by "talked me into" I mean that all she had to say was "Tonight's soups are..." and I said "YES!" because I love potato soup. This one was so good and creamy, and has cheese and bacon in it of course.
Main course for him was New York Strip, cooked Medium, with a salad and steamed broccoli. He and I both thought it was cooked a smidge too much for medium but it still tasted good, it just wasn't quite as Pink or juicy as it should have been. Definitely wasn't worth sending back to get a new one. Next time he'll ask for Medium-Rare and see if that comes out closer to the Medium that we both like.
My dinner was the Crab Cakes, and OMG! But first, my side dishes, lol! I had the creamed spinach which was pretty great, especially when creamed or as a cold dip are the only ways I truly like spinach. The white macaroni & cheese was only "meh" to me but I'm obviously no cultured food critic! I would've liked to have it a little creamier and saucier, but that's just me. On to the CRAB CAKES! You get 2 of them and they're the size of hamburger patties! I'm used to little slider-size crab cakes from Kroger's, but these are the diameter of regular-size hamburger patties--and you get TWO! They're crunchy-crispy on the outside and come with a little condiment cup of honey-mustard (?) sauce for dipping.
Since it was our anniversary, we splurged even more and got dessert! It was the chocolate-caramel cake w/a scoop of the Heath Bar ice cream. O.M.G! The cake was warm, dense, and SO rich! And then the cold, creamy, filled with bits ice cream sliding down the cake, making a whole new sauce and puddling all around the cake...!
For us this was a once-a-year special occasion, and $$$ in my opinion--but worth it! It's now on my Pinterest board for extra-special restaurants! The menu is online and you can make reservations on the website...
