When I moved here my mom went to Dairy Queen to get us some ice cream since we were moving in on a hot august day.
Two years later, every time my mom visits she goes to Dairy Queen and every time she'll tell the story about how she grew up with Dairy Queen and has been to many all over the state and how the quality of them has slipped since their glory days to the point that DQ was her last choice in ice cream. But not here apparently.
According to my mother, this DQ is the crown jewel in the Dairy Queen' s crown. A shining example of what DQ was in it's glory days. If she is in the area she will visit this DQ, she will visit it with me, she will visit it without me, she will visit it without me and then pretend she didn't so she can visit it again with me later. She will break a diet to visit it no problem. In fact I honestly think that seeing her daughter is only half the reason she comes to visit me, the other half is the world's best Dairy Queen.
As for me, who was not around for the glory days of Dairy Queen, I can certianly say that I agree. Out of all the DQ's I've been to this one has never felt cheap or dirty. The people working there actually seem real happy and friendly instead of fake happy and friendly. I've never had a "meh" blizzard there. The mix or ice cream to mix ins is always the perfect ratio. The food seems fresher and more nicely presented than other DQ's even when packed up to go.
The only downside I can think of after wracking my brain is that because they don't let their food sit under warmers as long as other places a lot of the food is made on demand and this can mean a longer wait. It's not a bad wait if inside, but it means that a deceptively short line at the drivethrough can take you 40 minutes if someone in front of you has a large order that needs to be made fresh. Sometimes in drivethrough the workers will hand you your order with melted ice cream all over their arms which kinda grosses me out and I'll need to make sure to double check the cup to make sure no ice cream strayed and may get on my cup holder.
I'd give it 4.9 stars for that, but I'm sure my mom will disown me if I give less than 5 and mother always...
Read moreWe have been going to this store for a while now as it is closer to us and we always get treated with respect from the employees. Tonight, however, we went in and decided that we would order food as well as ice cream. The first part of the service was really good the young lady taking orders very friendly and accommodating. We sat down and shortly we were served our food. Once we were done we got up to throw away our trash and had to wait for the young man that was working to take it out and put a new bag in. Once we threw our trash away, we went over to the counter to get the ice cream we ordered. Well a gentleman talk to the young man taking out the trash and requested that he needed to come back and help get the backed up orders done. He crumpled up the rest of the trash bags and threw them over to the trash ready to go outside, and walked back behind the counter and began preparing another customers ice cream and other foods, all the while HE DID NOT WASH HIS HANDS before he began handling food……….We were served our ice cream and asked for the manager and informed him of what we just saw happen. All he said was thank you yes he should have gone and washed his hands first…….Never did we see him talk to the young man, or pull him off the line, he just kept preparing food. I have to say that after seeing this I don’t think I can recommend anyone to go there for anything, or even to return ourselves without worrying if hands that touch our food are...
Read moreSad to say I will not be returning to this location again, We live near and have taken the kids here quite a few times before.
Got to the drive through line around 8:30, line wrapped around the store. Took close to 30 minutes to finally get to the window... As we were the next car up we watched the girl at the window pet the dog in the car infront of us and go right back to making food... Not sanitary by any means. At the same time it took them over 5 minutes to get her 2 ice-creams. We finally get to the window and pay, she than disappears and we can see all the employees on there phones just laughing and playing around. 5 minutes later she comes back, opens the window and tells us a new total. I explain we are still waiting for our blizzards...
All these kids laugh and she than decides to start making our order finally, hands us the blizzards and never even flips one upside down... not the end of the world. We than realize at this point that 3 of the blizzards are incorrect sizes and flavors...
A waste of money and time spent, If the manager reads this you have quite a bit of staff to either fire immediately or do some intense training as these kids have no idea how to run your business nor do they have the slightest idea what what...
