El Pollo Loco — Restaurant in Washington

El Pollo has always been one of my favorites of all time but not all locations are alike. This one is better than most places that I’ve been to and luckily it’s super closed to my house so I come here a lot. I simply love their chicken, never get tired of it. The quality of it has always been great, delicious, tender and juicy (make sure you request to get fresh and juicy chicken). That’s exactly what I do every time and never get disappointed. Great staff, very friendly and helpful. My experience has always been pleasant and positive except for a few times where there were a couple pieces of chicken missing. I just realized it when I got home (it’s not a big deal to me, I totally understand how busy it gets sometimes). I never actually tell them so I really hope they don’t repeat their mistakes to other customers. Sometimes I ask for corn tortillas, they give me the original or forgot my salsa/avocado sauce but it’s okay. I make sure I check my order before I leave to avoid that problem again. We were really excited to eat here since it's been about a year since we were near one and the first time we went to a pollo loco we had an awesome experience. Our experience at this location was a big let down. We arrived here and saw the place was packed so we assumed, it must be good. So we ordered our food, went to sit down and saw a cockroach next to our booth, it had been stepped on but was still moving. Plus the floors where dirty with food and napkins. So at that point I didn't feel comfortable eating so asked for a refund which at first I was told I needed to call corporate. But in the end I was given my money back. What was upsetting is that the manager seemed irritated that I was asking for my money back and when I mentioned she might want to pick it up she kinda just brushed it off and said they came in from the outside and didn't care about cleaning it up so other people wouldn't see. I've worked in a couple of restaurants and nothing looks worse than the manager not caring about a customers complaint. Or better yet not caring to have a clean restaurant for...

Areas of opportunity: 20 minutes wait for chicken. Men restroom no paper towels to dry hands, filthy faucet, toilet needs a good scrubbing. Food order was called by manager and left on the counter, no interaction of any kind.

Suggestion to management: This chicken chain is the best; like any other food service restaurant there's challenges for many understandable reasons but no matter what remember to lead by example, you lead the way to make it a succesful place and to invite others to come...focus on the problems that are not allowing you to exceed expectations not on the people or the reasons of why it keeps happening. Don't take this as someone trying to make you or your business look bad but as a positive feedback and an opportunity for the better. People that works on the food industry are very hard workers with low pay and deserve a lots of credit, sometimes they don't get the support they need to run the business but... When there's a will...
