First, I'd love to shoutout the owner Kelly for being an amazing visionary! This place is so unique and cozy and thoughtfulness of the design details speaks to the heart of the owner. Staff: amazingly friendly and very hospitable! Thank you to everyone who worked the bar, prepared the food, seated guests, or even bus tables-the work came with a smile and that a rare restaurant find. Decor: allow me to elaborate on the decor because it's a time capsule adorned with vintage pieces. The booths, the bar, the dining area-AH! I love it! But, let's acknowledge the restrooms...honey! One restroom is dedicated to THE Queen Bey and get this, when you open the doors, you'll immediately hear a Bey classic playing on the speakers inside. And if that wasn't enough to make you fangirl, I went over to the other restroom and the material girl herself, Madonna, can be heard in the speakers and seen on the wall decor. Both restrooms have so much personality! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! Drinks: baby these bartenders didn't come to play! They are mixologist and take their craft seriously. Let's acknowledge that I originally had a reposado tequila cocktail with pineapple juice (not pictured) and it was DELICIOUS! But the star up to contend against the rest is their espresso martini...ooowee this drink didn't come to play around and I'd love to see it go up against some of the others in the District because I can see it coming out on top...it's just that good! Signed: a dedicated espresso martini drinker! Pictured but not sampled: Kelly was playing around with a few drinks and the Betty White Cosmo was a golden girl approach to a cute evening! Ask for it! Food: I ordered their wings fried hard with a side of ranch and BBQ sauce. These wings were seasoned to perfection and fried perfectly! Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside (pauses as my mouth waters again) they were delectable to the bone! Is this place good for groups? ABSOLUTELY! Grab the crew and visit their happy hour which ends at 7pm. Is there parking nearby? Parking is tight but you wouldn't want to drive here anyway because the drinks are worth having a few-take a cab! Would I return? Honey, I'm planning a return as I type! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! For reaffirming that I am HER!

If you’re looking for a warm, welcoming spot that feels like home but with a twist, HER Diner is the place to be! This casual LGBTQ+ restaurant and bar nails the perfect balance of comfort and creativity. The menu is packed with elevated comfort food that hits all the right notes. Think juicy burgers, indulgent mac and cheese, and ultimate comfort foods, meatloaf and chicken pot pie! The craft cocktails are a highlight—expertly mixed, beautifully presented, and full of bold, unique flavors. Don’t skip their signature drink… The “Squeeze” The vibe is as inclusive as it gets, with friendly, attentive staff who make everyone feel like family. Whether you’re here for a weekend brunch, a dinner date, or just drinks with friends, you’ll leave feeling like you’ve found your new favorite hangout. Highly recommend checking it out—it’s the kind of place that quickly becomes your go-to spot.

Absolute hidden gem here in DC. I hadn’t been to Duplex in years and then found out it was gone. Then my friend said let’s go to HER diner, it’s like duplex but better, and it absolutely is. I started with the bi Felicia drink and it knocked me off my feet. That thing is strong but tasty. Highly recommend it. We split tater tots for a snack and I had the chicken burger. It was cooked well and was juice vs dry, and the buffalo sauce I got on the side was really good. The onion rings were fried to perfection. If you’re craving diner food, this is a great spot.

This has to be the worst brunch experience I’ve had in DC, and maybe ever? We sat down when there weren’t many people in the restaurant and it took them forever to even take our order. When they did, it took an HOUR AND A HALF to get our food. They gave our donut holes to another table and couldn’t figure out where our food was. When we did finally get our food, it was soooo bland and basic. My friend’s biscuit was completely burnt on the bottom and his egg Benedict was hard boiled. Definitely not worth the high prices they’re charging. Additionally, they didn’t offer to comp anything beyond the donut holes they gave to another table. By the time we finally got our donut holes - 2 hours in - we completely forgot about them and were about to leave. Do NOT recommend coming here - overpriced, bad service, bland food, and you’ll wait...
