I went here twice during my stay in DC because it's in a convenient location between my hotel and the metro. I thought it was pretty disappointing- at least everything I got was- some if the food on others' plates looked amazing. Day 1: I ordered the poffertjes (dutch mini-pancakes) and they were kind of sad and disappointing- they tasted like bizquick "just add water" batter. Real poffertjes are made with a specific batter- I've had them in the Netherlands and my dutch family makes them. I also had an egg skillet- I ordered the bacon and onion skillet and got an avocado and onion- which was fine, I figured it was busy so I didn't complain. The sunnyside up eggs were, well, eggs- the white was a bit more runny than I thought they should have been- typically the white is cooked and the yoke is runny. The clear part of the egg was still visible and slid off the top. The frustrating part was I was then forgotten about for a long time- I did the usual: placed my napkin over my plate, got my credit card out but my server was stretched a little too thin and even slammed a ticket book and pen in another server's hands at one point. I tried to make eye contact to slow him down long enough to grab my ticket but had a hard time catching him. It felt a little tense in there. Day 2: I need to head out to Dulles here in a bit so I wanted something fast and figured I'd play it safe with a non-cooked item. Yogurt parfait it is! I was within eye shot of the kitchen and could see a cook placing berries strategically on my parfait with her bare hands. Moments before this I saw her carrying some containers of salad greens from a stock room.I'm pretty weird about that sort of thing. I have since seen her handle everything else with gloves- why not my berries? The parfait is served In a tall milkshake glass which is hard to eat out of so I ended up removing the berries anyway just to put my spoon in. A bowl would have been fine. Also, no honey on the parfait which is also weird. Overall I think there are better French inspired bakeries in Salt Lake City, Utah. No joke: Les Madeleine's, Gourmandise, Eva's... I think this place is thriving off of travelers' need for a short walk and a quick bite and the prices are high for what they...
Read moreSo I definitely love this place. Went here today and was able to find some street parking...WIN. I came her solely for avocado toast. A lot of places offer avocado toast with a cut up boiled egg on top, I prefer a fried egg so I knew here hast just that. My avocado toast was amazinggg!! I also ordered a honeylemonginger tea which also was amazing. This place has adequate seating and WiFi just in case you need to get some stuff done. The only reason they did not get five starts is because when I was handed my menu there was milk dripping down the menu..when the waitress (Regina C according to my receipt) returned I informed her that there's milk dripping down the menu she handed me and she just like nodded and said mhmhm. She did not wipe the menu off, she did not offer to give me another, she did not apologize about the inconvenience...nothing. I kinda got a "So?" vibe which threw me allllll the way off. But I was starving so I continued to order. Other than that she was okay, I didn't have any other issues but that impression was hard to shake. Other than that I had a fabulous time. The menu here is great with reasonable prices and great, fresh food with a beautiful...

I didn’t mind that our server wasn’t very attentive nor friendly, as perhaps she wasn’t having a great day, but she forgot the drink order, and I felt a bit afraid to ask after we had already asked whether the chocolate syrup could please be warmed to be eaten with the warm waffle as it states on the menu (it was hard to pour it even because it was so cold, and warm sauce on a warm waffle is how it should really taste) but she was not amused and firmly said that it couldn’t be warmed and added that they never serve it warm despite the menu saying it is served warm. I was not even going to bring up that no fresh berries were provided either. She did take off a few dollars on the waffle order, but we didn’t know whether this was intentional or not as she never explained it to us. Hence the 10% tip. We all left a...
