I know this business just opened but come on... STOP SERVING BURNT COOKIES!!!!

I have frequented various Maman locations in NYC and I am very familiar with their cookies and croissants. Those sweet goodies are DELICIOUS. I know what they're supposed to look like, feel like, and taste like. Texture and appearance is key.

I was excited when I learned Maman was opening a location in DC near my office. I kept hyping it up to my colleagues. Unfortunately, my colleagues were met with disappointment. Why? Because on their own solo trips to this Maman location on separate days, they both received BURNT STALE COLD HARD AS A ROCK COOKIES. One colleague's cookie looked soooo burnt but it was not worth walking back in the cold to get a replacement. And that signature softness/chewiness that was supposed to be in the middle of the cookie was not anywhere.

I tried defending you Maman. I pointed out that you just opened. I ended up going to the store myself today and ordered a cookie. Just like my colleagues, I was looking forward to my cookie on the walk back to my office. Sat at my desk, opened up that floral printed pouch, and behold... a hockey puck with char on the bottom. I wasn't going to risk biting into that thing after cracking a molar a year back... dental crowns are expensive. I was embarrassed and hurt... why are you making me look bad Maman? I WAS ROOTING FOR YOU! 😭

Side note: that pistachio chocolate croissant? Tasty as always.

Please do better. Fix your cookie crisis. I'll try...

Beautiful location just blocks from the White House. My friends came in for the weekend from chicago and we ate brunch there Sunday morning. The baked goods look amazing. Between the four of us we ordered several of the pastries from the counter. The Nutella brownie was the best! Next , I got what was supposed to be a Nutella beignet. Unfortunately someone missed and there was no filling in my beignet so that was super disappointing. We also had a cheese scone, a salted caramel muffin, and a type of cinnamon roll.I don't remember what their names were. Muffin was good! Tfhe cheese scone was very unique and very good. The cinnamon roll and caramel muffin we're okay, but nothing to write home about. We also got a piece of quiche , I got the spinach, artichoke, feta cheese slice. My buddy got the one with caramelized onions. Mine was delicious! His he didn't care for too much.He said there was too much onion, it overwhelmed it all. My husband got a club breakfast sandwich , which looked amazing and I didn't get a picture of. He said it was good but again nothing spectacular. The coffee was good and the service was even better 👌 They were all very sweet and helpful!! The location is beautifully decorated. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We chose to sit outside as it was very nice. All in all the food looks better than it tastes but a great middle ground place for decent food that...

I first encountered maman at the Moynihan Hall taking the train from NY to DC a few years ago. It was delicious & it still is every time. I always get a unique sweet treat. I wish I wasn’t drawn in, but as soon as I saw their logo, I had to take a peek at what maman had on display. I walked away thinking not today. Although everything looked good, what little self-control that I had fought until the bitter end, but my eyes took over and back I went.

Once I asked what something was, I knew it was over! The Q&A went on for a few moments, until several items later, I somehow walked away this time with the following for me & my family:

a blueberry goat cheese scone two of the famous chocolate chip cookies that are on Oprah’s list- they were good, but a tad hard. a Mac & cheese croissant! It was delicious! I don’t know if they have them often or not, but if you Iike mac & cheese & croissants, you’ll love it! -a hazelnut beignet - nice pillowy beignet dusted w/ sugar & filled w/ hazelnut cream. -Nutella brownie - nice flavor

I would absolutely go back to dine in the next time I’m at Western Market.
