I had an awful experience here. I would leave no stars if I could. However, one star it is. I went to this place during lunch. I ordered crab dip and onion rings. The dip tasted as if it were microwaved and just wasn’t very fresh. I informed the waiter that I didn’t like it. He said he’d handle it and removed the dip from the table. I then ordered desert thinking that would be better. The raisin bread pudding was also microwaved and not very good. I asked for the check and the crab dip was still on it. When I mentioned it to the waiter, he says “You ate it, so I couldn’t take it off the bill.” At this point I’m totally confused, because he’d clearly removed the dip from the table. He then says “I’ll let you speak to someone else.” Her name was Kathy I believe. I’m not sure if she was the manager or not but was extremely rude and racist. She came to the table accusing me of eating the dip that I know for a fact I did not and tells me I have to pay for it. I’m super lost at this point because I was under the impression my waiter had taken care of this. This entire interaction was unnecessary. He removed the dip from the table let me continue ordering only to have the manager insult me by saying “you ate all the crab out of the dip so you have to pay for it.” Which did not happen because it tasted horrible. I did not pay for the dip they claim to have trashed but expected payment for later. This resulted in police having to be called which was so embarrassing. I’m not normally the type to send food back or leave a review, but I have never been treated so poorly. If staff here feels compelled to argue over food that is disliked by THE CUSTOMER, that says a lot about the service and food quality. I’ve worked in the service industry for many years and would’ve never carried on this way. Even if I felt the customer was wrong, I would have taken that loss, apologized, and tried to offer something in it’s place. In this industry, we take losses especially when it comes to food and or drinks. It’s just really sad that the servers here haven’t learned which losses are inevitable. This place was a Capitol Hill staple. Mr. Henry’s please remedy this problem before losing more potential...
Read moreFirst of all let me add that the food was horrible! I sent back my first order because the fish tasted like fish sticks that they bought frozen and popped in grease for too long. Then let me add although we came in as advocates to speak for rain day they counted us as a group that I may add they did not want to serve us and gave a slack when we sat down. Then on top of that if you ask me they were being facetious and charged us gratuity on each one of our checks even though we paid individually. I do not believe it's fair to punish a group of people that want to bring money into your establishment by charging them gratuity on their individual meals that they had to pay for out of their pockets individually and not as a group. I believe that should be banned and outlawed because that's greed. Then they served me a Philly cheese steak sandwich which I requested and I asked for it to go because it was also horrible. Maybe because I'm from Texas and I know good cooking but Mr. Henry's is overrated and it's outrageous how they do business, howow they treat their people when they want to see more than one and how they charge you absurd amounts and something should be done about it. I am not happy with this and I know it's only $11.90 but it's the principa and l I want my money back to my credit card and I'm going to file fraud charges with my debit card. I gave the young man a $5 tip because he was nice to us in spite of everything that happened but I had no idea they were charging the additional $11 and 90 cents for me and my godmother's bill. We literally filled up his restaurant when there was nobody but about four people at the bar and Mr Chris should have been pleased versus saying I will not give you your money back because this is how it's done. He should be replaced as management and have sensitivity training when he is dealing with people especially with people that...
Read moreI recently made a quick visit to Mr. Henry's as a going away night out for a dear friend. We made plans to weather the brutal cold (20 degrees), but who likes to stay home all day even though it's cold out, right? The plan was to meet up around 06:30 pm. Well, as you know women are always late (quick duck). lol
Moreover, I called up one of my cousins who lives around the corner to meet me. While waiting on both women I decided to order from the menu. I have a traditional thing I do when it's under 30 degrees out, and that is to order an Irish Coffee. Well let me tell you, this was the largest serving of an Irish Coffee I've ever had and it was prepared in the best way too (Coffee, Jameson Whisky, and Whipped Cream).
Just as I received my drink my cousin shows up and we decided to head over to the bar (Bartender, Tim) and since she's a regular (CHEERS) I felt comfortable meeting her friends. After another hour, my other friend finally shows up (smh, lol). But that didn't matter because my cousin and I needed to catch up anyway.
My food arrived, lucky for me, I brought my appetite. I ordered the Pulled Pork BBQ Sandwich (tangy BBQ sauce on a toasted Bun, Cole Slaw, real potato chips, and pickles). I was so hungry, I made a "Happy Plate."
If you've ever been here, it's a nice spot to enjoy 'live' music and that night, they had a Jazz Open Mic where local musicians can play together. It started around 08:00 pm. After hanging out and having fun downstairs we decided to head up to enjoy the open mic and participate. We ordered two more Irish Coffees and enjoyed the entertainment (and gave generous tips to the host and his band) until 11:00 pm.
