My boyfriend and I are regulars here, we go to Raku almost once a week. Most of the staff recognize us, we get the same things almost every time and we have a routine that has been established.
Yesterday we decided to go to Raku because I had a bad day and unfortunately our dining experience made my day much worse. We sat at the bar and arrived about 20 minutes before Happy Hour was ending.
When we were arriving, we had to ask the host for happy hour menus, it seemed as if he was uninterested in helping us because we weren't going to sit at a table. We brushed it off as a misunderstanding and sat at the bar.
We put in our orders and proceeded to wait 20 minutes for only one of us to receive a drink. We also had to keep reminding the waitress of what we ordered, and the man who sat next to me at the bar was served his drink and food before us, even though he arrived after us.
In addition to reminding our waitress of drinks, she never gave us dinner menus until we got her attention and outwardly asked for menus. After we finally got the menus we received our food quickly but we still didn't receive the drinks we kept asking about.
We repeatedly had to ask to be served throughout the night and we started to feel like a nuisance to our waitress. She ultimately never served us our last round and drinks and we realized later that she still charged us for them which was like an additional $30.
The cherry on top of this annoying experience was that I asked for my edamame to be boxed up and our waitress told us, "we can't box happy hour food" while giving me the to-go container, even though we ordered full meals and sides after the happy hour items.
The entire experience was unwelcoming because of the lack of attention from the host as well as the waitress who served us at the bar. Usually we have a wonderful experience at Raku but this time was extremely disappointing and it felt almost Ageist. We will be avoiding eating here in the near future, we did not feel...
Read moreHad a late lunch (2:30) on a Monday Jan/ 2018. No pictures this visit. Had the Spicy Coconut Red Curry Soup, deluxe version with chicken, beef, calamari, shrimp & mussels. This is a large bowl of Japanese style broth/soup with a lot of bulk, Mai ly in the meat and wonderful spicy Curry broth, not overwhelmingly spicy. There are/is vegetables, approximately in ratio to the protein. The soup was served hot and was preceded by a small tasty salad. Had a hot saki to enjoy with the meal. The ingredients we're fresh, the soup was very well balanced in it's slightly sour and sweet tones. This was a meal for two, however for one hungry person with a healthy appetite, a great meal. Some of the best soup in this style I've eaten. The restaurant is clean and there was a good patronage for this time of day. Noted the hostess wiping down surfaces with disinfecting wipes which I take as a positive sign given the high flu prevelance. Highly recommend. Enjoy! Rating should be...
Read moreLets start with the interior. This restaurant is beautiful , it has the traditional asian look, yet it is still a modern warm and inviting place to dine. The overall service was very good. There was no lack in communication and all went as planned. The appetizers were exceptional. You can tell their rice, seaweed and vegetables are amazing in quality. The sushi didn't fall apart and was an overall joy to eat. Although i didn't go with asian for the main course, it was still exceptional. I went with the fillet mignon. At first sight the presentation was eye catching. It was laid out to perfection. Once i cut into the meat, it was like butter. The knife fell right through it. The first bite was an amazing welcome to my mouth. The meat was cooked to incredible perfection. As previously mentioned, the steak was soft and tender form end to end, it was cooked juts as i wished. Definitely a restaurant i would...
