My family and I made reservations for 5 adults at this location on the 4th of July. When we arrived, we were told that we could not be seated because we had two additional toddlers with us and our reservation had to be for 7 people instead of 5. (Website does not allow you to request high chairs). We were also told we could not be seated because there were two parties in front of us, that were running 30mins late. The text message you receive from the restaurant regarding reservations states you have 10min to check in with host or you will lose your place on the waitlist. After learning that two parties were running 30mins late, we asked to speak to the manager because what we were being told was a contradiction of the restaurant’s policy. Not to mention, the hostess was also confused as to why they were still waiting for the two parties and said it was the manager’s decision. We spoke to manager Kristin R, who displayed awful customer service. She told us that we were not going to be seated until the two parties arrived AND she would give them an additional 10min. This seemed odd since our entire party was present and a couple empty tables were visibly available. It was obvious that she was making up rules as she went, because after we tried to confirm that their additional 10mins would be up at 10:30am, she then said “actually we will give them an additional 15mins.” After about 10 mins, 1 out of the 8 people from the late party arrived and Kristin agreed to continue waiting for the rest. Which again, most restaurants require that all members of the party be present to be seated or at this point continue to hold the reservation. At this time, a woman sitting next to us, also waiting on a reservation, experienced first hand this absurd customer service and decided to get up and leave. She pulled my MIL aside and told her to do the same. We’ve never experienced a restaurant to have a 45 min+ grace period for a reservation, allow 1 person to hold a table for the rest of the party (party of 8), and allow tables to be empty on a holiday. It’s unbelievable that she allowed a line of customers to form outside the restaurant while waiting for these late people. Awful way to run a business. Awful start to our 4th of a July and celebrating my 2 year old’s birthday. Thanks to Kristin’s unprofessionalism and lack of hospitality we decided to take our business elsewhere and will not be returning to...
Read moreLet's just start off with the fact that the kids menu goes from 7 to around $8 in price without drinks and all they get for that type of price is three pancakes and a couple pieces of sausage or bacon if you're lucky. Also the pancakes even though it is stated that they are buttermilk have a sourdough starter. My children love pancakes and love waffles and they were disgusted. My toddlers waffles were so tough her could only handle 2 bites. Now all of them feel sick to their stomach and I'm worried about what this evening is going to bring with all four children feeling sick. I got the chicken fried steak and being that my dad raised me on Southern food I have to say that was the worst chicken fried steak I've ever had because it was tough and tasteless while being too much pepper. I'm now feeling sick to my stomach and trying not to vomit. Also for your potatoes they only have two condiments ketchup and hot sauce. My husband got the bacon platter with thick bacon and it was dry stringy and tough. He couldn't even bring himself to eat the eggs because of how much they were swimming in grease. Also for the size restaurant they only have two stalls in the women's bathroom and one stall in the men's. Hot Cocoa is $3.30 each and as I said none of the meals come with drinks. After I demanded to talk to the manager a girl showed up that I could bet was maybe early twenties was not dressed for her position nor did she have a customer service attitude even though I was being nice and just informing her that the menu needed to be a bit more informative and that we had issue with the food. She was only willing to call the cheapest kids meal and if it wasn't for the fact that we had vouchers for two of the other kids that had gotten awards at school I probably would have lost my mind. We will never be back and we will make sure that anyone that we talked to we will inform them of our experience as well as showing photos. My family has never been this sick and nauseated after a meal at any restaurant. It was terrible enough that I left the left overs at the table because I was too fearful to share them...
Read moreService in the lobby waiting area was awful and straddled the racially discriminatory. My significant other and I are an interracial couple and we’ve had our fair share of issues because of this. We were nearby and decided to have breakfast at the Original Pancake restaurant on 9/15/2021 in Puyallup, WA. As we entered the lobby we got the look from the host(an older white man) and as he rolled his eyes dropping his head we already felt unwelcome. We asked for a table for two and he acted like he didn’t hear at first so I repeated the name a little louder and spelled it out for him. He acted like he was typing our name in, at that point another employee walked up and saw he wasn’t typing our name in right so she assisted him. He seemed annoyed by us and asked if we were going eat here again, after we already asked him for a table for two. He didn’t ask for our phone number or anything else like he did the white couples waiting for tables for two who came in after us. To add insult to that poor service, when a table for two came up(we were next up for a table as all others were helped in front of us) he passes us up and asks the white couple who came in after us if they are ready for their table for two. Thankful for that white couple because they actually called him out on it. They noticed we had gotten there before them and had been waiting longer and asked him why. At that point he seemed annoyed further because he then rudely asked our names after he knew we were there first. After all this, our appetite was ruined and we didn’t want to spend our money with The Original Pancake House, we just wanted to leave. He never apologized throughout all the poor service. We left after that and will never go here ever again. Ended up down the street at IHOP were the sirloin tips, pancakes and service was great. Hopefully our experience and response will make it better for others in the future. Editing to add it was 10:00am on 9/15/2021 in case management cares to check the...
