I had the pleasure of enjoying a delightful evening pancake breakfast at The Rustic Table, a quaint and welcoming establishment run by the women in addiction recovery at the Grace Harbor Womenâs Center, part of Teen Challenge Monterey Bay. The pancakes were fluffy and golden, served with syrup that melted into a perfect bite of sweetness and comfort. The meal felt both indulgent and nourishing.
The experience at The Rustic Table was more than just about food; it carried the spirit of recovery and community. Knowing that this business is a part of the womenâs journey to rebuild their lives through the multi-month recovery program added a layer of profound meaning to the meal. The center provides not only recovery support but also offers a safe haven for at-risk and homeless women and children, with its 92 beds standing as a testament to the mission of empowerment and restoration.
The atmosphere at the table was filled with a sense of hope and progress. The staff members, each on their own journey of recovery, offered warm smiles and a level of service rooted in gratitude. As I enjoyed my meal in the company of two of my favorite people, I reflected on the incredible support this center offers, creating opportunities for these women to heal and grow, both personally and within the community.

Read moreMy wife and I had decided to get breakfast here, when we arrived we were the only customers. My wife ordered the breakfast burrito and I ordered the steak and eggs. Our server took our order and then left us alone the rest of the time we were there. Roughly 10 minutes later she brings out the toast that comes with the breakfast I ordered and told us the rest of the food would be out soon. It was more than 20minutes later that the food arrived. She gives it to us and then never came to check in on how it was. Fortunately my wife quite enjoyed her breakfast burrito. And while my food was decent tasting, I had ordered a medium rare steak, and the steak came out well down, as we didnât have time to wait for them to cook me another one nor was there an opportunity to share how my steak was overcooked. The hash browns that came with my meal were also burned.
After eating we waited close to 10 minutes before we got the attention of the other server that was on shift, who then went and brought us our check. She then told us she needed me to sign the copy of the receipt before she could leave our table, I have never ate at a restaurant where the server watched over you shoulder while I filled out the tip amount and sign the receipt. This made the already strange atmosphere even stranger.
While the food was ok tasting, and the restaurant was clean, the lack of attention from our server, the extended wait time on our food when they had no other customers, and other strange things lead to us having a dining service we could not recommend...
Read moreRustic Table is a lovely space in the heart of Watsonville that serves great food at reasonable prices. The menu has all of your favorites and you won't want to skip the clam chowder and oh yes, the tator tots! Delicious!! The best part about eating at Rustic Table is knowing that you are supporting the women of Grace Harbor. The ladies who work there are all in recovery from addictions, alcoholism, and the many hurts and challenges that life throws at us. As they learn new life skills they learn a new way to walk in wholeness. I love this restaurant and their mission to change lives one person at a time! Support this...
