My wife and I stopped for lunch. We ordered the Spicy City roll and Virginia roll from their special rolls menus and we loved them, about as good as any I’ve had.
They had regular and low salt soy sauce, but I had to mix them because one was too salty and the other was almost saltless! Also the Wasabi was weak. I could have put the entire chunk of it they gave us in my mouth and probably not gotten that sinus burn it produces. I wanted more but by the time we saw our server again were we done.
We ordered hibachi steak and shrimp lunch to split. Everything was cooked perfectly as far as doneness, but unremarkable regarding flavor. The sauce was a bit sweet and bland otherwise. I ordered hibachi to avoid the teriyaki sauce sweetness and STILL got a sweet sauce. Even the fried rice they served seemed sweet to me. They served it with, I guess a yum yum sauce, that was not good. It was basically a sweet pink colored mayo. I guess people like a bunch of sweet stuff for lunch and dinner but it’s not my thing.
The salad they served with the meal was basically just iceberg with some shredded carrots and a ginger peanut dressing my wife liked, but I didn't, again, what’s with the sweet in everything?
The clear soup that came with meal was basically beef broth and a hint of spice, nothing special, but good tasting broth at least…if you like broth, and I do…but that’s not “soup”
Service was OK but there was only one other table with diners in the place, so not hard for one person to keep up with. There was some lacking. I wanted that wasabi and couldn’t see anyone to ask for it and wasn’t going to get up and go look for someone. My water glass was empty and I never got the napkin I asked for after I used my first one to clean up a soy sauce spill, but we were close enough to finished by then that it wasn’t the end of the world. The server was attentive at first and at the end when it was time to pay, so I was at least happy for that. The food came out fast, but again, only two dine-in tables were occupied.
I'd give my experience a 3.5. Had we not had the rolls, I would have had to score a 3 for the bland sweet hibachi. Plus we asked for it to be made spicy and it wasn't...I guess I need to stick with Thai and Chinese food on these kinds of dishes, but I've had real good Hibachi even at buffets...just not here, flavor-wise. I’m giving a 4 because of those rolls and the fact that our experience was only on two rolls and one lunch dish. There may be good stuff outside of that here.
They had hand sanitizer at every table and it smelled great! That’s a plus…
My biggest complaint other than bland food, was the lights were way too dim. What’s up with that? I always feel like restaurants are trying to hide something when its so dark. I had to use my phone to read the small print on the menu, and that’s with my reading glasses on! I like to see my...
Read moreUsually go here and have a good experience but tonight took the cake. The lady that serves every table there was very rude. Ordered an Appetizer that wasn't cooked all the way thru, sent that back with the one that was still raw. She came back with the appetizer and shorted us a wonton because that was one that was bit off of, then only made us one more after she overheard us talking about how they gave us 3 instead of a full order as they should. ENTREE comes out and I realized that I only had chicken but was supposed to have hibachi chicken and shrimp, she disputed me up and down about what I ordered, told me she didn't hear me say it but everyone else at the table heard me when I said chicken and shrimp. Then she goes to say I should have told her when she sat the plate down, I told her I know what I said and that I didn't realize right away that the shrimp wasn't there until I took a few bites, even tho it was her mistake she didn't apologize and wanted to go back and forth about the fact that she didn't hear me and stated you will have to pay for the shrimp. Well duh that's what I ordered, wasn't looking to get anything free. Upon getting the shrimp everyone else at the table were just about done eating so we asked for to-go boxes for what was left, another guest at the table asked for a refill on her drink she brung back less than a half of glass&stated because we asked for to go boxes she didnt fill the drink up all the way. They clearly don't aim to please their customers and she was very argumentative which does not display customer satisfaction at all....
Read moreJust read this review and now will never eat here again. While my wife and I always leave a tip I am flabbergasted at this response from management to another customer. A tip is never mandatory and for management to respond on a Google review is just astounding. You just lost two customers. Response from the ownera month ago Hello Ava,
When you go out to eat, it is customary for you to leave a tip for the server since you received service, but the tip doesn't have to be high; at least leave some tip. The $60 bill consists of 2 plates of sushi, an appetizer, 2 drinks, and tax. Leaving a $0 tip is ridiculous for a $60 bill. Furthermore, it was your choice to order $60 worth of food; we did not force you. Again, if you got takeout, you wouldn't need to leave a tip. We only reminded you that your bill did not include the tip and never forced a tip. Since you were the only table at the time, we made sure to consistently ask if you needed anything and if the food was satisfactory. What kind of service did you need for it to be considered "good"? After we explained it to you, you unwillingly left a $2 tip for a $60 bill. Did you think a $2 tip for a $60 bill was too much and unreasonable?
Sincerely, Osaka...
