This location enjoys being in a mountain valley at about 2,700 feet about sea level, similar to the elevation of Magazine Mountain in Arkansas. Even better though is the fact that it's located on the Waynesville Strip, which at night time the street is lit up in neon as it streches on into the distant mountains. This street is not located too far from I-40, which goes from Wilmington to Barstlow and vice versa. Starting in Wilmington it goes through the coastal plain. When it reaches Raleigh it enters the vast piedmont and it streches on for hundreds of miles through the cities of Raleigh, Durham, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and the more minor cities and towns like Burlington. The elevation ranges from 350 to more than 1200 feet, and everything in between. Rivers moderate the elevation. Then after all those hours you finally see the Applachian Mountains. There the road accends to 2,700 feet. Near Asheville, though, the road reaches a relative low point at 1,968 feet. Then the road get back up to about the same elevation it was at an hour ago. But the road descends all the way to 1,400 feet as it reaches Tennessee. On the way you gets lots of breathtaking scenery and even pass through a tunnel. Then the elevation keeps going down until it reaches 1,000 feet as it crosses the French Broad. Then you soon afterwards get to see Knoxville which is only at 890 feet above sea level. However you get to soon see the Cumberland Plateau. There the elevation reaches 2,000 feet. It descends again, though, at it heads toward Nashville where the landscape matures to some extent. Then at the highway reaches Memphis its pretty flat. As the road crosses the Mississippi River into Arkansas its only 180 feet above sea level. In the eastern half of the state until hitting Little Rock on the Arkansas River it is quite flat. But then it starts to get hilly in the Western part of the state. Then as soon as it reaches Oklahoma it gets flat. And its flat for hundreds of miles. The Oklahoma-Arkansas is at only 500 feet and there's a decent amount of trees, but by the time it reaches the Texas border, its at 2,100 feet, and trees are few and far between. Oklahoma City the capital of Oklahoma is at 1,200 feet. As the road goes through Texas it's located on a plateau. Amarillo is at 3,600 feet above sea level. When the road hits New Mexico even plants are rare, and there are very many towns until you reach Albuquerque, the largest city in New Mexico, which is in the Rio Grande valley at 4900 feet above sea level. By the time the road crosses the Arizona border it is high elevation. It reaches its highest elevation of more than 7,000 feet near Flagstaff. After that the road descends until it reaches the Colorado River. On the other side of the river is California, and then you drive those last few hours of desert road until you reach Barstlow. I wonder how many McDonalds are on that road? And I wonder which is located at the lowest and...
Read moreThis is BY FAR the worst McDonald's I've ever been to. I've been to super busy McDonald's in New York that provide faster and friendlier service than the Waynesville McDonald's.
Exhibit A) EVERY TIME I walk inside, I stand at the counter for at least two minutes before anyone even says "hello" or "I'll be right there." Meanwhile, there are a bunch of employees standing around talking about their personal lives. When someone finally comes over, they are usually slovenly dressed, mumbling, and seemingly resentful about the fact that they had to stop their conversation to take my order.
Exhibit B) The Drive-Thru is equally ridiculous. Half the time I go through, I have to go park in the waiting space because they're out of fries. This is after having waiting 5-10 minutes in the drive through line already. How McDonald's ever runs out of fries is beyond me. There should literally always be fries cooking...ALWAYS. On at least two occasions that I can remember, I waited in the waiting space for 10 minutes before calling the store from my cell phone and reminding them that I was outside. Apparently they had forgotten about my food.
Exhibit C) EVERY TIME I order a large fry, I get a small or medium fry in a large fry container. They don't open up the large fry container fully before putting the fries in it, and so you only get about half the amount of fries that you should. EVERY TIME I order fries, I have to slightly squeeze the side of the fry container so that it opens up fully. Then all the fries fall the bottom of the container. There are so few fries that I often can even see any fries when looking at the container from head on. At this point, I then ask the staff member to please fill up the entirety of my large fry container. Of course, this is met with rolling eyes, huffing and...
Read more-10 Stars is the accurate rating however this is not an option. This store has gone downhill. It actually used to be one of the better fast-food places to go in Waynesville without having to worry about the orders being prepared correctly and timely. Placed my order online and waited in the parking lot until it stated the order was ready. I opted to go in and pick it up, however, once I got to the door it was locked and there were two small children running around with brooms in their hands swinging them at each other. They then proceeded to turn around and flip me off. I walked back to my vehicle and got in the drive thru line (wrapped around the building of course) and waited for over 20 minutes to get to the speaker where I gave the lady my order number. She then stated it was invalid and kept asking me how to find my order???? Um, it's your system darlin' how is the customer supposed to know? I finally requested she get the manager who asked what the issue was and while stating what happened for the third time she snapped “we have it pull around”. The food delivered to us was the food that had been ready for over 45 minutes at this point, cold and disgusting. I threw it out and had to purchase dinner for my family at another establishment. I will be following up with the General Manager as to the children running around unsupervised taunting the guest (all cars in drive thru were getting flipped off). Maybe they should follow Hardees lead and close shop if they...
