Delicias Restaurant — Restaurant in Webster

We were traveling from Georgia to Phoenix, had just left the Johnson Space Museum in Houston, and were searching for some really good Mexican food. Not knowing the area, we started searching Google and found this website with great reviews, good prices, and amazing photos. We decided to give it a try and are so glad we did. We’ve tried all kinds of Mexican food (Tex-Mex, Asian-Mex, Mex-Mex, you name it, we’ve likely tried it!) but this was absolutely the BEST of anything we’ve had! For starters, the waiter (Amilcar) was so personable and attentive but not overbearing in the least bit. He made us feel like valued guests, like our patronage was something that was important to him and something he was proud to earn. Beyond the excellent service, the salsa (2 kinds were brought to our table) was amazing. The chips were perfectly warm and crispy! We could have made a meal off the chips and salsa alone. I had the most delicious taco salad I’ve ever had in my life! The fried shell, sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and guacamole were, oh, so fresh! Then the beef was seasoned and cooked to perfection. My favorite part of a taco salad is usually the crispy fried shell but not on this taco salad. The salad ingredients and beef was so good, I didn’t even need to eat the shell! The other two people in my party had empanadas and enchiladas and they couldn’t say enough good things about it. The chicken filling and the gravy chili was a middle-of-the day delight that blew us away. I know because I tasted theirs! I could not understand why this place didn’t have people lined up to get in! Y'all.....we literally stumbled into this place because we got hungry on the way to pick up something we ordered and pulled over to do a Google search for places to eat. Ended up in the shopping center right in front of Delicias. So glad we stopped in. The green sauce was insanely good and is worth a return visit all by itself. We went a little overboard in terms of the amount we ordered because we were excited to try a little of everything. The fajita queso flameado was legit. I ordered the Pollo en pepian, a guatemalan dish of chicken in a sauce made from pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, chiles, and spices. It was probably the best chicken dish I've had in a while. We also ordered some pupusas which were delicious. The shrimp enchiladas were not stingy on the shrimp and came with a side of refried beans that were without question the best refried beans I've ever had. If you haven't eaten here you are missing out on am amazing experience.

UPDATE We were back down here again today 6/25/21 and stopped in for lunch on purpose this time. Everything is still as amazing as the first time. It's not a fluke y'all. Put this place...

After reading positive reviews, I was eager to try this restaurant. I visited on 8/16 after work and ordered fajitas. When the food arrived, I began adding lime to my rice, only to be met with the shocking and utterly disgusting discovery of a baby roach in my food. I immediately called the waiter over and asked if it was what I thought it was, and he confirmed that it was, in fact, a roach. While he apologized and offered a new plate, the damage was already done. I was so repulsed and disturbed by this that I immediately decided to leave. The lack of a more serious response or genuine attempt to make amends left me further appalled. At a bare minimum, I would have expected compensation or a more thoughtful resolution, even though I would have declined a free meal. I truly feel this experience deserves a much stronger reaction from management, and I was left feeling completely disrespected and disgusted.
