I honestly don't understand how this place has such a high star rating. This was one of the WORST places I've been to this year, hands down.
For starters, parking up front is hard to find, so you have to walk up from the other parking lot. Not a huge deal but if your car is parked behind the restaurant in the other parking lot, it could get broken into.
The staff was very attentive and very nice. No complaints from any of them. 5/5 for them! The dining area is just one big room so it's obnoxiously loud and not private.
The food ... 0/5 stars! The salsa for the table tasted like bottled salsa and tomatoes. Not good and definitely not authentic imo. I asked if they had salsa verde and they bring me out this creamy dip I didn't even use and charge me $2 for it! I ordered the special platter to share with my mom. It was $27 for chicken and beef fajitas, shrimp embrochette, rice, and beans. I also ordered a kids Enchilada plate.
The kids enchiladas were SO HARD that we couldn't even cut through it with a fork! The manager said they are frozen and that's why. Tell me why they charge $16 for a regular Enchilada plate when it's not even freshly made?
The platter was almost $30 and only came with 2 strips of chicken, 2 strips of beef, and 2 shrimp. The beef was cooked well, although only my mother ate it since there wasn't enough to even fill one taco. The chicken was VERY DRY and overcooked. The bacon on the shrimp was undercooked and smelled disgusting! I brought it home to try to cook it more and eat it, but it tasted like old shrimp. My son and I both spit it out in the trash. The tortillas were also so hard they were breaking like chips! They made me more that were fresh and soft, but I didn't really have anything to eat except rice and beans. (Those were not bad)
I will never return to this restaurant. If you want delicious Mexican (tex mex I should say), I highly recommend...
Read moreAs our first time coming to this establishment I personally didn't have any expectations. Walking in the door we wondered around kinda looking at things in the lobby then saw the dessert tray, absolute must. Ashley took wonderful care of us, with suggestions and pairings. She had a large section including a large party but we never strained to NEED anything, she was already ontop of it. The staff as a whole work as a cohesive unit and make sure everyone is taken care of. Fantastic to see the teamwork play out. Anywho, we are appetizers aficionados and like a little of everything. The Sampler did NOT disappoint. Everything had so much flavor and the sauces provided added that extra flare. Had to add the corn bisque soup to the mix; thumbs up from us. 5/5 The Dinner was just as great. The bacon wrapped shrimp was awesome, the bacon actually stayed on the shrimp instead of tugging off the it. They do tend to serve on the healthier style so don't expect too much butter and filler on the rice however the black refried beans were exquisite. 4/5 Had to save room for their new summer dessert. They have a new Tres Leches Banana and Berry dessert (does contain nuts sprinkled ontop for you allergen individuals). If I can brag about the flavor I'd be here longer. We got two of them. 8/5 Will definitely be returning here. And we are hoping that...
Read moreA Delightful Experience with Amazing Service from Beto
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Escalante’s, and I can confidently say that my experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm hospitality, and my server, Beto, truly went above and beyond to ensure my meal was memorable.
I started with the tortilla soup, which was rich and flavorful, perfectly warming me up on a cooler Texas day. Each spoonful was a delightful blend of spices and textures, setting the stage for a wonderful dining experience.
For dessert, Beto recommended the sopapilla paired with coffee, and I’m so glad I took his advice! The sopapilla was light and fluffy, drizzled with honey type sauce that added just the right amount of sweetness. The coffee was the perfect complement, rounding off my meal beautifully.
The patio atmosphere was simply gorgeous, with the cool Texas weather creating a cozy ambiance. The soft wind blowing and comfortable seating made it an ideal setting to enjoy my meal . I couldn't have asked for a better dining environment.
Overall, my visit to Escalante’s was a fantastic experience, and I can't thank Beto enough for his attentive service and great recommendations. I will definitely be returning soon to savor more of their delicious offerings....
